For those of you who follow Alaska winters or are blessed to live here, we've had a bit of snow. Temperatures dropped below freezing and rain turned into ice sleet, hail and then snow. A bad day for those of you who had already put on your summer tires. We had such a driver in front of us, who hit 12-mile hill and very abruptly slowed down from 65 mph to 30 mph, when his rear end began sliding. We keep some very nice all-weather tires on the truck. Saw a 3-year old bull moose, first of the summer. Not seeing as much of the wild animals as we used too. It's been 4 years since we experienced our last bear...too many dogs in the neighborhood now. 40 degrees this morning, had to turn on our electric heater in the bedroom. With all the weight I've lost I get cold easily.
Book Report: I am working on my manuscript for Book # 4 of the "Fire and Ice" series. Susan is editing my young adult story, which is based on the St. George and the Dragon tale. Soon, she'll be auditing my police series, "Badge and the Cross" - First book is "Rookie". This is loosely based on my police career in Alaska, using my actual cases...a lot of them.
All right, let us move to the news. I've noticed that some of the stories I've mentioned have shown up in the big American papers...from two days or up to a week later. I believe having the stories being written by these foreign papers has applied pressure to our countries papers to print them. But there are still a lot of stories never seeing the light of day in the USA and I believe this is terrible. Let's move on:
New Zealand Star: New Zealand's south island rocked by a 4.6 earthquake on 5/22/2017. Information: New Zealand and New Caledonia are not true islands, but these two countries, separated by an international border, are the high spots atop a giant underwater continent - larger than Australia and actually connected to Australia and the South Pole by underwater land masses. Scientists now believe Hawaii, also the high spots of another underwater continent, will vanish beneath the seas in approximately 80,000 years. So, if you own any land on Hawaii, you might wish to sell that property now.
Gatestone Institute News: France- "No-Go Zones" in German Cities, to include Hamburg and Berlin neighborhoods, roads, bars and restaurants. No-Go Zones are where Muslim gangs rule and the German police are ordered not to enter. Here, Sharia Law, the law of the Islam faith, and men are only the ones visible and Muslim women stay home. Here, non-Muslims are open to harassment or possible death. Districts have been "Privatized ", for drug trafficking, Salafist zealots, and Islamic youth gangs. Main victims remain the womenfolk. Now, German politicians now about this, but they refuse to respond. This problem was identified by "Le Parisian News". They also reported on how Sharia Law is practiced here in these no-go zones, which now exist in the heart of Paris. This has also become a dangerous spot for the tourists to enter. But little or nothing is being done about it.
Washington Free Beacon: DC- 40 U.S. Representatives wrote a letter to the Justice Department and State Department on May 26th urging them to immediately expel Turkish personnel involved in a violent attack on U.S. Protestors, in Washington D.C. As of now, it is unknown if those departments acted.
Washington Free Beacon: DC- New $80 million anti-Trump network is led by top funder to liberal causes- Atheist George Soros, who was a major source of funds behind President Obama and destroyer of several European banks and governments. He has employed several former members of the now-defunct "ACORN". They are clearly an enemy to the United States government, to which Soros seeks to destroy.
Washington Free Beacon: U.S.- YouTube has deleted a video that showed Planned Parenthood executive admitting abortion is "Killing". This has led Pro-Life activists to accuse YouTube of censor hood.
Taipei Times: Sri-Lanka - Large monsoon strikes, killing 103 people and forcing 230,000 people from their homes.
Global Times: Philippines- President Duterte warns his citizens that he is "mulling" on placing the entire country under martial law, This action is a result of Islamic militants having taken a foothold in the Philippines main Island of Luzon Island.
Thai Nation News: Manila- Philippine President Duterte jokes with his soldiers during ceremony in how they can each "Rape" three women, as he assured them of his full support under his new martial law.
Thai Nation News: United States- Former presidential daughter; Chelsea Clinton calls President Duterte a "Murderous Thug", following his 3-rape speech.
Manila Times: Philippines' Department of Education "lauded" the signing of Executive Order # 26, which provides for the establishment of a smoke-free environments in public and some privately owned lands. If the Philippines go to a country-wide martial law, it is rumored the whole country will become tobacco free, no-smoking will become a new by-law. ( This will be tough as the Filipino people enjoy smoking, all thanks to the U.S. military servicemen of pre-World War Two.)
Egypt News: France and Germany prepare for the creation of a new military force after England separates under BREXIT. (Seems like these two countries do not feel NATO is not up to stopping Russia or Chinese forces in the event on Invasion, maybe the Muslim hordes.)
Guardian: Report on Google, accused of underpaying their female employees and in response says it would be too expensive to reclaim wage data. ( apparently they're quick with excuses as to making things right, and they're the big computer company.)
Iran-Herald: Iran Navy flotilla to set sail for the Indian Ocean, where it can add its support to several different countries, or simply tests its carrier force.
Japan Times: Tokyo- To reduce work stress, Japan firm is now allowing pet owners to bring in their dogs, cats and even goats. Studies have shown that the use of dogs and cats in senior citizen homes and hostels has brought joy to the patients and reduced the level of stress they were under.
Japan Times: United States- "The reluctance of US Federal Regulators to require operators of nuclear reactors to spend $5 billion to enhance the security spent fuel rods that while underground, threatens the country with a potential catastrophe, Scientists warned on May 26, 2017. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission greatly underestimated the risk and potential contamination of a nuclear waste fire triggered by a quake or a planned attack, " experts wrote in a journal for Science. "Such a disaster could force the evacuation of 8 million people and cause $2 Trillion in damages. ( We should all remember that the 7 -year old Fukushima Nuclear Disaster is still leaking its nuclear waste into the North Pacific. They've been unable to stop its flow and Scientists fail to report on what this waste is doing to the underwater life- from plant life to shrimp and all the way up to whales. I for one quit eating any fish or shrimp coming out of the North Pacific. Fearful of the costs involved in canceling all of the fishing industries, the US Government has failed to keep the country up-to-date on what is truly happening out in these waters.)
Mexico News Daily: New "Trump toilet paper", is being sold down south, 4-rolls to a package. Profits to aid immigrants and "Softness Without Borders" is the slogan. Company owner is using novel approach to show what he thinks about the President.
Gatestone: Australia- Sharia Law is trying to make its presence known in the "down under", with local, provincial and federal police investigating 69-incident of forced or those girls under age for marriage in the 2015-2016 financial year, which is up from the prior 33-cases. While there are no official numbers, authorities estimate that over 83,000 women and girls in Australia, who may have been subjected FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). Under Sharia Law, a woman is not allowed to experience the joy of love making. Their task is to have babies and they're doing a fine job of this in the European Union, estimated to be having 2-babies for every non-Muslim family in the EU. It is estimated by 2060, this over population of Muslims in Europe will allow a non-violent way of taking control of all the countries through the voting booth. And we allowed this to happen.
Gatestone News: Europe- The "long and sad list" of human harvesting by Islamic terrorism in Europe shows the murdering of 567 dead victims of terrorism in the EU. Not counting all of those killed outside the EU. No, "Europe is fighting back with non-explosive teddy bears and dolls, candles, flowers and flags, vigils, Twitter hashtags and cartoons." There is also the brave reporting being done by courageous reporters spread across Europe and the Holy Land. ( We're behaving like turtle rolled over on their backs. I went through the same thing in Vietnam. The politicians didn't want to alarm Russia or China, resulting in the death of 58,000 deaths...approximately. We could never fight it as a war and we came home losers. Now we're doing the same in Afghanistan. Either go to war, or get out of there!)
Gatestone News: Pakistan- Federal authorities charged an elderly Christian man with the charge of "Blasphemy", which draws a death sentence. While it acquitted 106 Muslims of burning down an entire Christian village.
That's the news for this week. I am still trying to find out what has happened to the asteroid or comet sighted out in space. NASA didn't used to be so silent. But I found a spot to hide my phone booth, somewhere to hide my clothes, do a quick change and fly out to space as.....I need a name. Please provide some ideas and what powers I might have. Better writer has already been offered and no more foul language please- it might blow up my computer.
Today is Memorial Day, a day to honor all of our soldiers, Marines, Airmen, Coastguard and Navy Personnel. But we also honor those civilians who worked aside the uniformed troops. Some of these people remained on the Philippines in World War II and were ushered into the Japanese Prisoner of War camps at the point of a bayonet. Also, the thousands of women and men who couldn't go to war, but remained at home building are weapons of warfare. We called the ladies Rosy the Riveter. My Mom, now deceased, was such a woman and she built torpedo bombers for the Navy. My Dad fought in the Korean War at 17 years old, and he saw a lot of action as a tank commander and then infantry/forward observer. His father fought in World War I as a carrier blacksmith, said to have been the last one before automation took over. My oldest brother, Paul, was both army and navy, and I was the only brother to go to Vietnam.
We have lost millions of gallant men in our modern wars since 1900 A.D. So, today think of those in your family who may have fallen, for today is the day we honor the fallen. Veterans Day is for our men who served and survived., and hopefully you all remember what the 4th of July is for. I always wonder, because I've had dozen of people ask me when is the 4th of July. This is when I worry about our country.
I hope you all have had a wonderful 3-day, but just take a few moments and utter a prayer of thanks for all those who have fallen so you have had this 3-day weekend.
God Bless, BILL
