"P.T. Barnum" a musical with Hugh Jackman, otherwise known as Wolverine. This is a delightful musical that really get the blood flowing and its fun to hear him sing. This is a semi-bio of the famous Circus Man and what he brought to the world.
"The Post", which is a story about all the hassle the Washington Post went through back in the early 1970's to publish the infamous "Pentagon Papers" and how their guts to publish helped bring about the end of the Vietnam War. Meryl Streep plays the owner of the paper and Tom Hanks plays her gutsy manager of the paper and tells of how they took their battle to the Supreme Court for the rights to publish this story.
Both tales are on HBO. As far as new DVD's, I would recommend "12 Horsemen", I believe that's the title, but it stars the kid who plays Thor for these new Avenger movies. This is a true story about one of the first Delta Forces to be sent into the Middle East following 9-11, and what they endure. I really recommend it, especially after I found out the classified mission they undertook actually occurred, and their story was released once the mission was declassified.
The Movie- "Skyscraper" with Dwayne Johnson is a new DVD release and I found it pretty exciting, but you need to be a Dwayne Johnson fan. I wonder if he's still thinking about running for president? Mona and I also recommend the series "Madam Secretary", "Blue Bloods"- now in its 9th Season and a story of a police family who work for the NYPD. "Longmire" is another series we recommend, having enjoyed the 5 seasons and all the books the creator of the characters he has written- Author:Craig Johnson.
Lying around a lot I tend to watch a lot of internet movies and series. "Night Shift" is another good one, which concerns a lot of veterans who work in a San Antonio Emergency Hospital, with their relationships and having to deal with their own PTSD episodes.
I'd really like to hear from my children to hear what my grandchildren would like for Christmas.
Last night, we had a bit of an accident outside, when our great-grandson Solomon took a nasty fall while walking down our porch steps. Thankfully, one of Canaan & Patrick's friends was able to catch him and keep him from serious injury. However he still broke a front tooth and sliced his chin open, so he is today down in Seward having a doc check himover to see if he needed a couple stitches. The young man who helped Solomon smacked his back pretty good and ironically, he is the same one who helped Patrick save Solomon when he broke through the lake ice and went under. Angels were on double duty that day.
Celebration abound as James Casselman, our third son, is now returning home from a 6-month tour in Qatar....the Middle East for you who do not know where this is at. He was presented with another medal and then had to locate a vacuum to get his room cleaned up before leaving. Seems even captains have to do their own clean-up. Back in my day, some lowly enlisted man would have to do the work.
Seems a wood party is going on this afternoon, as we try to get the wood cut and split for dry storage. I do think we actually have enough for both houses for this winter. We also has Santa Claus visit us early when Darci's boyfriend- Burt, came over to replace our broken plumbing and install our new pressure tank. THANK YOU!!!!. We can now do our laundry and even take hot showers again.
In the event you are wondering, I am nearly done in setting up my police museum, again. Nice to have my office located upstairs so I don't have to climb the stairs very often. Bummer getting old.
Don't Forget, Tuesday is General Election Day for Governors, Senators and Congressmen- depending on your state. So get out and VOTE, which now gives you the right to complain.
Mona and I were driving into Seward the other day, enjoying the beauty of our scenery and how much we value Alaska. Having grown up in Southern California and visiting nearly half the states in the US, along with Southeast Asia, I truly value what the Lord has given us here in Alaska. Twice the size of Texas, are population is still under 1-million people. The air is clean and the scenery is unmatchable in beauty, and still so wild. From bears, moose, coyote, wolf and lynx, we have our own nature show right here in Moose Pass. All sorts of eagles to observe and fish to catch. But, it is also the people, from the villagers to the city dwellers, who can remind you of what people were like 100 years ago. This is my 41st year up here and I am so thankful the military sent both Mona and I up here, where we would meet, fall in love and raise our children. Yes, the Lord has been wonderful and I pray all of you have such happiness wherever you are located. If you're not happy, take a moment and count the positive items you have seen and experienced. Often we just need to reflect, ten to take a moment to thank the Lord.
That is all for now, time to spend a few hours working on my current manuscript. I am thinking that maybe I'll just wear the readers down with the sheer number of books I'm writing. But, as I have said many times, that even if one of my stories brings a person to the Lord, then I have done my work and I am happy.
God Bless to you all, BILL
A great hello to everyone. Weather had us due more rain and snow, but the last two days have had beautiful clear skies and another chance to admire our majestic mountains draped in white. Temps running between plus 20 and 40 degrees.
No book report with this journal, but I wanted to mention a couple of movies Mona and I have watched recently, and we both heartedly recommend them to all.
