SNOW!!!! Yes, Yesterday the first snow of this winter made its arrival, leaving 2-4 inches in Moose Pass and now my yard is a cascade of white fluffy and extremely wet snow. Only one real problem, I still have 9-10 cords of wood exposed and now sopping and soaking. Caught by surprise once again. Most of it is cut up, but haven't been able to get hands on a splitter, yet. So, we've got a few electric heaters running as the temp dropped to plus 20 degrees. Alaska is always an adventure.

Greetings: We're experiencing a very wet October and our snow level is gradually coming down the mountains. I've been off the computer for a bit, during which time we've moved my office from the living room into the upstairs bedroom. This makes things a lot easier for me, but I've lost some e-mails I received over the last few days, so if you sent us any e-mails, please resend them.
Hello to All: It has been a couple of weeks since my last journal and thought I'd better catch-up with you all. Life just keeps going on here in Moose Pass. No snow yet at our level and believe me I can wait awhile longer. We've had a couple earthquakes in the 4 and 5 point range, no damage. Lost power for a few hours yesterday, but all is well and its back on. Sort of makes the household go crazy when nothing works and the great-grandchildren want to watch cartoons.
Another rainy day here in the Chugach Mountains, and the bugs are loving it. I'm about to be served lunch, which is really nice as Canaan and Patrick to very good care of me. Not that I don't deserve it, I am 65 yrs old and we seniors deserve the best. Between writing and doing research for this journal, I am also working on my manuscript- "Indian Wars", Book # 2 for the Arizona Rangers.
A good afternoon to all of you from the Casselman Clan of Moose Pass, Alaska. We are having a warm day, it actually hit 70 degrees yesterday and then drizzled a bit last night. Now it's cloudy, but we are hoping for a couple sunny days, which we need to get some outside work done.
Greetings from the Chugach Mountain Range and our small community of Moose Pass. We've been experiencing a week of rain, sun, cold and hot, giving us a normal Alaskan summer for this area. Moose Pass is said to be a community of 200 people, but this also means the children and I thinks the various animal critters we all keep. They struggle here to maintain the elementary school open, which requires a dozen 1st to 6th grade kids.
The computer seems to be working today, so everyone cross your fingers that I can finish this on my first attempt, as it does sadden me when everything suddenly vanishes. Weather has been a toss-up between rain and sun, but thankfully no snow. Yes, I have seen snow flurries in July, a decent snow fall in June and several snows in August and September. Alaska is simply tricky, but so very beautiful.
Hello to all, and I wish you a wonderful summer day. Hope you have enjoyed great 4th of July. For us, we stayed home as the Seward 4th of July celebration can be maddening. We've watched the Mount Marathon Race numerous times, fought with the traffic and now it is nice to just stay home and watch 50,000 vehicles drive by once the races have finished and most of the people are headed back to Anchorage, Soldotna or Kenai.
I believe it has been a bit more than a week since our last contact, and I realized my news research was piling up. It appears there is a lot of things on the fire around the world and tensions are high in every hemisphere. But, things tend to drift to the busy side when summer us upon us.
Yesterday, I was about 30-seconds away from sending out my most recent journal, when the whole thing vanished and I could not reclaim it. I even checked my drafts, it was a no-go. This has happened before, so I knew well enough to close the computer down and walk-away before I did anything destructive.
A friendly greeting from the community of Moose Pass and our beautiful Chugach Mountains of Alaska. Another warm and beautiful day here, with just a dabbling of fluffy white clouds, following a brief rain fall last night. But, the bugs are out in force, being pursued by the swallows and bats.
What a wonderful day here in Moose Pass, with temps in the high 60's and only a few clouds hanging around. I'm finally back on the computer, having spent the last few weeks in and out of bed. But, I was able to get a good amount of reading done and watched several dozen movies with my lovely wife. Mona has been terribly ill with a lung infection, but she is coming out of it now and yesterday we took a drive to Seward just to get out of the house and check out our local scenery.
Another coolish afternoon here in Moose Pass, with a light wind blowing. Birthday Report: it was a very nice day, though I ended up spending my day in bed- new medication. So, everything was brought upstairs for me to enjoy. Canaan made a wonderful meal and baked a beautiful birthday cake, thankfully without all 65-candles on it.
I wish to apologize to everyone who received my earlier Journal for today. Due to my lousy hearing, I didn't hear exactly what I was being told. I thought my wife was telling me that my dear friend Vicki had died from her cancer. But, she has not died, but is not expected to come around and may be going to be with the Lord when the Man upstairs calls for her. She is surrounded by family and I'm going to end this here. I am extremely sorry for sending out false news. But, please hold her family up in prayer. Knowing my friend, I'm sure she would have a smile on her heart for my mistake. Thank you. BILL
The morning weather was a bit on the cool side today, this Thursday and the house is mostly empty with only Mona, Susan and I at home. Susan is busily working on her math courses, while I'm here on the computer and Mona is catching up on her reading. Once I'm through with the journal I will go to work on my current manuscript. All the books I ordered to be sold this summer have arrived in the mail. I'll place them at festivals, fairs, Bible stores and some gift shops- as well as Amazon and through my publisher. My current manuscript is Book 3 of the "Badge and the Cross " Series, currently titled "Homeland Security".
Hello to Everyone: A cloudy day here in Moose Pass, house is somewhat quiet as three of our adults are now employed full time for the summer between Seward's boat harbor and Moose Pass's Trail Lake Lodge. Another young man to arrive soon and he also has a job waiting for him at the Lodge. Makes me wonder if they could use an old man to wash dishes? Or maybe I'll send Mona.
Okay, so this journal arrived in only 3-days. But, I had so many news bites I thought I'd get it out now. Seems to be a lot happening in the world right now, and these are only the pieces I suspect are not being covered in the U.S. papers. But again, I could be wrong on that.
Greetings to all on this fine Spring Day. Recently, we were surprised by another dropping of snow, but it's almost all gone now. It is yard work time and thankfully, we have two strong lads here to help out. Firewood to gather and cut, veggies to plant and books to write.
Another Saturday, with mild temps here and our snow is almost all gone. Patrick and Canaan celebrated his birthday and they've added a very small kitten to their household. Nice to have around to handle the local shrew problem.
Middle of April, time is going by all too fast. About 8 or 9 days ago we had another snow storm, dropping about 6-8 inches here and now almost all of it is gone. A lot of greenery showing through, meaning a lot of dead leaves from last fall to rake up. Mosquitoes haven't shown up, but the Swallows haven't shown up yet either. I recall I called them sparrows, but in fact they are swallows. I enjoy watching them buzz around, chasing the bugs and then later, teaching the young ones how to fly.
Howdy there, Folks: Boy, we sure got hit with a bit of winter a couple days ago- snow, blizzard conditions and when it was done we had only 6 to 8 inches of snow on the ground. Guess the winds took most of it elsewhere, but it sure pretty while it was falling. Today is cloudy and down again in the plus 20's. Should be spring weather, but it seems to be hold off. Thankfully, our friend Chad and his plow came by and cleaned our lengthy driveway, he also does the church's driveway next door too. A real fine gentleman.
AS you all know, tomorrow is Easter...So, Happy Easter to everyone. Yes, it is sort of unusual to have it come on the 1st of April and the first Sunday of the month at the same time. For atheists, they'll be thinking it goes well for an April Fool's Day, but I do hope they come to know the truth before their judgement day comes about.
Good Afternoon: We are having a very pleasant day here in Moose Pass. We had expected rain or possible snow, but the clouds all blew over the mountains and left us with a sunny day. This is also a quiet day here at the house, as Mona and I are alone for the day. The kids- Patrick, Canaan and their two children have traveled to Fairbanks for a few days- it's about a 460 mile drive one-way, but highly scenic at this time of year. April is around the corner and Spring can be fantastic in Alaska as the snow melts, the plants, flowers and trees bloom and the sparrows return from California.
Greetings to All: I hope you are all having a nice spring day. Here the snow is melting, sun is shinning in a cloudless sky and Temperatures in the mid 30's. Great day to be in Alaska.
I am able to spend 2-4 hours at my desk, working on the editing of my 3rd book in the "Badge and the Cross" Series. First two, "Rookie" and "Stronghold", are in Susan Smith's hands for final editing. She and I are now working on the cover for "Legend of Silene". We found a lot of nice covers, but they were under copyrights and expensive to use. So, I've done the artwork myself and she is working on the lettering. Now, I have a big favor to ask of all of you, well the ones who have read my first books. Yes, I am still alive! Been a bit under the weather and have spent my time upstairs. Now for some good news-weather wise. We had quite a snow storm over last weekend- Thursday to Sunday and received about 4-feet of white fluffy stuff. Unfortunately, our plow guy was broken down and awaiting some parts until tomorrow or the next day. Kids did a lot of shoveling- not me! I can use the excuse I'm too old for that now, or too lazy, but I'll go with the old. True, I'm not really that old- will be turning 65 this May, never thought that would happen. My Mona turns 60 this June...hard to believe I'm married to such an old woman. Yet, she looks about 35 yrs old, while I look about 80.
