A lot of different insects are consumed in Vietnam and Thailand. I once watched several kids out in an field of low grass, catching what looked like dragon flies. For about every two of these they caught and placed into a container, they popped one into their mouths. No, I did not try this. I did try many different dishes in Vietnam/Thailand and my children grew up hearing about those stories until I bored them to unconchedness. My advise, when you visit a foreign land, try it- but only if you can see how it is prepared. Certain things their bodies are accustomed to will send us to a hospital. I saw that happen a few times. We will now move along and I do hope I haven't grossed you out.
I once worked in a slaughterhouse, where the steers walked up a ramp and ended up in the display case, for sale. I couldn't eat at McDonald's for a couple weeks. Okay-okay, we are moving along.
First TV theme song to reach #1 on the Billboard chart: "The Theme from S.W.A.T." (1976)
Before starring in "I Dream of Jeanie", Barbara Eden starred in a movie called the "Brass Bottle". . This was a story about a Jeanie in the bottle, played by Burl Ives, a well known actor and singer.
Lawrence Welk's vanity plate: A1 AND A2- his show, highly popular, showed him as a band leader, where people from all over came to dance on television. This show began in later 1950's and lasted for a very long time. (My grandparents insisted on watching it every week on a 12-inch TV screen- black & white of course.
During televised food shows, brown shoe polish is painted onto steaks and burgers to make them look like they're perfectly cooked. White glue glistens under hot studio lights and produces a glossy, buttery look. The glue is also used to substitute for milk in cereal commercials, and for mayonnaise on sandwiches because it stays thick and creamy...Hair spray prevents lettuce and vegetables from wilting and temporarily revive
dry-looking foods- such as breads and cakes. While spray deodorant is how food stylists get the look of tiny, frosty ice.
Okay, on the home front: John Alex Holloway, one of our sons, turns 47 years old today, though I think he still looks like he's about 35. I've talked him into making two-batches of cinnamon rolls for the household. Patrick, Canaan and my two great-grand kids arrived two nights ago, along with their friend Richard. Solomon my great-grandson and Segen, my great-granddaughter, are a great addition. Just hard to believe Mona and I are now great-grandparents. With 22-grandchildren I guess it had to happen sooner or later. Just makes it tough to remember all the names. But love still abounds- I know that sounded corny.
NEWS:
Gatestone Institute News: Norway- "Norway's Political Elites Cheer For Islam" Native Norwegians will be a minority in their own country within a few decades. Islamic leaders refer to ethnic Norwegians as "Infidel Whore", yet politicians and mass media are not interested. Ruling elites are reportedly far more interested in cases of "Islamophobia or "White Racism" . A report commissioned by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency in early 2017 said, "The Muslim Brotherhood" is secretly leading Islamic Groups in building a parallel society in Sweden by infiltrating organizations and political parties in Sweden....Ramadan is supposed to be an Islamic Holy Month of fasting , but lately it has turned into a month of "jihad and victories". Breitbart News Service reported "at least 1,620 people killed by militant Muslims during Ramadan in 2017." Most of these victims were killed in Muslim-majority countries.
Gatestone: "More than 60 Islamic Leaders and Imams from France, Belgium, Britain, Tunisia, and of different Islamic faiths - in a move that may be unprecedented, are touring Europe to denounce Islamic Terrorism and to pay homage to the victims of terror in Europe, by visiting many of the sites of these terror attacks." These imams have supposedly been receiving death threats from Islamic extremists. ( Now, is this truly sincere or yet another Islamic ploy to have Islam more acceptable - such as the Trojan Horse move- a highly successive intelligence ploy)
Gatestone: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, an American tax-pay funded program recently fired a journalist, Mohammed Reza Yazdanpanah, for retweeting an op-ed in a Wall Street Journal, written by Soharb Ahmari, which attacked the station for abusing its US taxpayer funded mandate by covering for the Mullahs of Tehran, Iran and for its Bias against Israel. Iranian-American Political Theorist and Analyst Reza Parchizadeh recently said- "So biased as been their broadcasts in favor of the Iranian Regime that the people of Iran and the dissidents derogatorily call the 'Voice of America' the Voice of the Ayatollahs" This Statement was made back in December, 2000. Radio Farda, the Prague-based Persian language branch of the U.S. Government funded network, "Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, recently fired one of its journalists for doing his job- providing Iranians at home and abroad with access to information they are denied by the Ayatollah - led regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran. (This is all happening with our tax dollars. This is clearly not the Radio Free Europe of the Cold War days- and is anyone saying anything about this besides a Jewish News Service- Gatestone Institute?)
The Guardian: The National Football League/NFL - Research involving brains of former NFL players find 99% suffer from CTE Disease with symptoms that include memory loss and mood disorders. CTE-Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, took 111 players and reviewed their cases to find 110 were found to be suffering from CTE. 202 brains of NFL players who played football in high school, college, semi-pro and NFL for evidence of the disease. They found severe CTE in players who spent more time on the field. CTE is associated with repeated blows to the head. Players averaged 15 years and died at a median age of 66-years old. CTE can only be definitively diagnosed after death. Of 84 participants with severe CTE, 80 players or 95% had CTE symptoms. 75-89% had behavior, mood symptoms or both. 71 to 88% had signs of dementia . CTE was first believed to primarily impact boxers, but in recent years it has become increasingly become associated with football, hockey and military service. NFL recently settled a class-action lawsuit with affected players of the NFL for $1 Billion Dollars. NFL worked for years to downplay the CTE, even going after the one doctor who first diagnosed it. Now the drive is to find a way to diagnose the disease while people are alive. For now the only way to certify the diagnosis involved the slicing the brain tissue to show the evidence of CTE.
Washington Free Beacon: Washington D.C. - "State Department Lawyers Removing References to ISIS Genocide Against Christians, Other Religious Minorities". Hold overs from the Obama Administration in the State Department Legal Office are being held responsible. Top lawyers are systematically removing the word "Genocide" to describe the Islamic State's mass slaughter of Christians, Yazidis and ethnic minorities in Iraq and Syria from speeches before they are delivered and other official documents- according to Human Rights activists and an attorney familiar with the policies.

Jerusalem Online: Israeli Police call new Temple Mount security measures unfeasible after metal detectors and security cameras were removed. United States "applauds" Israel for removing these new Security Measures. (Curious, Muslim Extremists now hoping to stage a major protest/riot or planned takeover of the Temple Mount. Makes one curious as to how many more Israeli police and soldiers must give up their lives?)
Jerusalem Online: Turkey- President "Erdogan of Turkey calls upon all Muslims to go defend Jerusalem." Gatestone News: United States- "Modernizing America's Nuclear Capabilities", In 1989, America had 1,000 nuclear missile silos, and a small number of additional bombers and nuclear submarines, facing 13,500 Soviet warheads. Today the U.S. has 450 such silos facing 1,750 Russian warheads. (Not to mention their bomber wings, submarines) . That is a switch from a ratio of 13 Russian warheads to 1 U.S. Missile Silo, to a ratio of 4 Russian warheads to every one U.S. Missile silo. BUT, getting rid of our Minuteman ICBMs would reverse that progress and make the ratio even worse, with 175 Russian warheads to every US Silo. Now how is that an improvement? 40 House members in congress want to kill the land-base missile program. ( We would then have to rely on our submarines and bombers, if they are able to get in the air in time. We lose our defensive abilities that keeps our enemy from coming at us- "Mutual Destruction" will no longer exist. We're spending so many tax dollars on idiotic items, programs and forgetting about the defense of our country, This article did not even mention China's nuclear ability or some of the Muslim nations who now possess nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. It has always been the United States from keeping the bad boys from hurting the little ones, and ourselves.)
That's all folks. I have to attack my book again, where I've already fought the nuclear war and the US did not fare well. God Bless- BILL
