Seems like the year just started and already we are in the middle of January! I didn't realize I hadn't updated this blog since October.
As mentioned in my last blog post, I was in the process of looking for a new to me car. This car was found and purchased on Oct 7. I am the owner now of a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva. It was exactly what I was looking for...the right price, the right size, the right mileage. Everything. It has heated seats, remote start, bluetooth phone connection.
Lexi and I went to California for Christmas. She is a good little traveler. She does excellent on the plane. On the shuttle from Duluth to Minneapolis she whined some, but then settled down.

She seems to be getting a bit ornery in her old age tho because while we were in California, she attacked Curly, Rhondda's dog, several times so we had to keep the dogs apart much of the time. Three years ago when we were out there, this was never an issue and the two dogs got along well together.
A few weeks before I got there, Rhondda had fallen. Luckily, nothing was broken but she spent time in rehab so was at the rehab center when I got there. Her son Dale and wife Lisa picked me up at the airport, and we went to my favorite In-N-Out Burger. They brought me to Rhondda's house, and we spent a nice evening visiting and enjoying a glass of wine around the fire pit.
The next day, Lexi and I spent the day at the rehab center with Rhondda. It was a good day visiting with Rhondda and her roommate Norma. Lexi attacked Curly several times that day, my naughty little girl. Seems she has become extremely jealous.
Rhondda came home the next day, and one of my best friends came that day to spend the weekend with us. Sue had moved from Grand Rapids to California in July, and we had a joyful reunion. It was a fun filled weekend of visiting, shopping, and just hanging out. We went to Newport Beach to the Boat light parade. It was spectacular!
Christmas Eve was spent at Dale and Lisa's, and it was a wonderful evening of visiting, and games. Christmas Day was spent at Lisa's mom's house, and it was a wonderful day also. I enjoy spending time with my California family.
All to soon, my vacation came to an end. My trip home was a long day of shuttles, flying and sitting in the airport. And by the time I finally arrived home at 7pm on the 28th of December, I was ready to be home. I came home to about two feet of snow. Brrr!
As for my writing, a few months ago I finished writing a 44,000 word novel. We are now in the process of editing it with hopes of getting it out around March-April. I am also working on another book of short stories, and also a secret project with details to follow later once I get going on it.
Until next time,
Rena
