Yes, we hope to build a small barn this summer, One of our many planned projects. Also transferring our large coal shed, which is attached to the house, into a woodshed. There is a window put into the coal shed for transferring coal into the basement and we hope to enlarge it into a doorway, which requires us to remove numerous cinder blocks. During the inter it is easy to come up with summer projects, but once summer hits, it's not always that easy to succeed in getting those projects completed. But, we try. We also need to get in our winter supply of firewood and hopefully put the new furnace in, in the event we switch over to fuel heat. Getting harder for the older people to get the wood in and have to rely on the younger ones for help.
Driving into Seward today, need to pick-up a few things and it was be a pretty ride. About 30-miles each way, passing by Kenai Lake, Snowy River and a drive through the low hills. In the distance we have the row of jagged mountain peaks, usually packed with snow year round and they remind us of the Alps. The military has a so-called secret base back there they reportedly use for arctic survival training and some other projects. Hard to keep secret when they keep flying helicopters and C-130 transports back to it. The buzz right over our house. Who knows, maybe its the new Area 51...just kidding.
Canaan's husband Patrick is leaving tonight for his job in Oregon, he'll be gone for 2-3 weeks and if its like last time he'll see some other states too as they transfer the crew around. The do floors and make these beautiful counter tops that flow with colors. He used to sand- blast the bottoms of big boats and now he does this, it's a good trade to learn as new hotels and lodges are going with these specialty floors and counters.
Roger, their friend, who has been with us for a year, leaves tonight also, moving back to Fairbanks to be with his family. It will seem unusual to get up in the morning and not see Roger asleep in our living room. We wish him well.

Reviewing the news I often wonder if it was better back in the days before radio and TV, when people didn't know about all that was happening across the globe. So many pros and cons to consider. True, I know there are times I find it beneficial, but there are those times when it just sickens me to see what people are doing to themselves and to others. Neighbors used to walk across the street to visit with one another, look into each other's eyes and see the trust or not to trust, before the telephone. Now we have Twitter and Facebook, snapshots being taken of people who never wanted same. Our computers have either become out best friend or our worst enemy. Modernization has come with such a high price. We have faster cars, but deadlier weapons and a lot more nuts to deal with.
Yes, I think about such as I review my news sites and wonder what one piece of news will set off a sickness, a war or the End of Times.
I pray you all have a glorious weekend and your prayers are answered. God Bless, BILL
