Yesterday, I worked most of the day on my manuscript for "Blake's War". Nice and quiet up here, most of the time. But with Christmas break I have an extra granddaughter running around. In Fact at the moment she is downstairs making strange...it's either the sound of a Zulu tribeswomen or an Apache practicing war cries. But if I didn't know her and love her, I might be somewhat terrified to have all 6 foot of her rushing at me swinging her two Christmas's presents wildly about; an 18 inch machete and a Pakistani 10 inch ceremonial knife. Good way to keep suitors honest, knowing the crazy family she came from.
We was blessed with a pair of after Christmas gifts this afternoon. A dear friend knew we were looking for a kitten, to become a mouser for this place. All of our old mouser had died off, living long lives. Well, we were brought two-5.5 month old brother and sister kittens, who had not been doctored yet. Word was at least one of them was a mouser. They were nearly identical to "Smokey", in color and structure. Supposedly they had been around small dogs...well, our four dogs had not been around them and the adventure was on. I haven't seen the kittens since and we also have Mrs Beasley, the old cat, who is not a mouser and from the noises under our bed, is not all that friendly to visiting children. These things take time and my Mona is a patient lady with animal. You could almost say she is an animal whisper. But for me, I have size 14-4E feet, a bit clumsy and these critters take their chances when I'm stumbling about.
Okay, on with some news:
Palestine: "Hamas will not accept anything less than all the lands that were occupied in 1948," stated Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar in reference to Palestinian Statehood. The recent draft resolution for statehood was submitted before the United Nations Security Council yesterday by Jordan and denied due to rights violations of the Palestinian People by the Hamas dictatorship and concession made to Israel, that are deemed unacceptable by most Palestinians and most Middle Eastern Muslims.
Britain: "Britain remains the world's leading recuiting ground for Al-Qaeda," Con Coughlin, of the Daily Telegraph reported. British school teachers are afraid to teach their kids about Christianity out of fear of offending Muslims- reported by Roger Bolton, BBC Radio 4's Feedback Program. A group of British lawyers have launched a website, "Shariah Watch, UK, Shariah Law- Britain's Blind Spot."
- Muslim population in Britain has reached 3.4 million people in 2014 to become 5.3% of overall population of Britain's 64 million. Britain now has third largest Muslim population in the European Union; behind France and Germany.
Russia: While two thousand protesters were allowed to demonstrate for 2-hours in Red Square following the conviction and sentencing of President's major political foe for a case of fraud, the shouting of the protesters became excessive and soon reminded many of the older Russians of the Stalin-era. Especially when the older brother had his sentence of prison suspended, while the younger brother was shipped off to serve time. During Stalin's reign family members were punished as being related to Enemies of the State. It became worse when the protesters began to yell, chant and scream out, "Russia Without Putin," and "We are the Power!" The police then came in and began shoving the protesters toward the the subway gates. Some scuffles broke out between Ukraine supporters and police, causing arrests to be made. Police later reported 100 people were detained, but the protesters said as many as 250 people were arrested. Some newspapers reported political coruption in that the fraud case was all a ploy to remove Putin's political foe. The fines being charged both men was up into the tens of thousands of $US Dollars.
Middle East: New Atlas Maps being sold by Harper Collins Publishing, which details the Middle East, fails to show the country of Israel. It does identify Gaza and West Bank, but with holds the Israeli State. Calls to the company revealed how these particular maps are being sold to the Middle East area, to include English speaking schools of the Middle East.
United Nations: Latest Ebola statistics- Cases now number 20,129, with a reported 7,879 deaths for Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. The UN is currently not showing statistics for those other countries outside the major three.
China: Xinhua News reports U.S. latest sanctions on Russia are putting into question bilateral cooperation on major global problems for China, Iran and small countries who have set up treaties and former agreements with Russia for delivery of goods, oil and services.
Beijing: China's Global News reports China has opened a new website to outline its claim on the Diaoyu Islands, meant to prove the island's status as Chinese Territory by publishing important and historical records and legal documents. Supposedly the website is winning wide support in the public and Chinese media. Academic works shown are reportedly to be written by both Chinese and Japanese scholars. Still, the article closed with the statement,
"This is a critical way to safeguard the victory of World War II." (This could be looked upon as a slap to the face to the Japanese and not a hand across the water.)
Iran: Iranian Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham, says fresh US sanctions against the Islamic Republic violate U.S. "Goodwill Principle" of the country in its interactions with Iran.
U.S.: Obama-care- Mandated Fines to Rise in 2015 And to Be Collected By Our I.R.S. 2014 fine for those scoffing at the mandatory insurance law could very will be fined $95.00 or 1% of the household income. Well, in 2015, the fine take a major leap to $325.00 or 2% of the family income, which ever is higher. BUT by 2016 we will be seeing a mandatory fine for those who do not have health care insurance, of $1,100.00 and it is expected to continue in its rise. ( Now was this in the fine print our busy congressmen and women failed to read. Of course it won't hurt them, they'll have insurance. This is just another reason why we need term limits. We have them for our President, why was it not taken to a general vote for our politicians from City, Borough-county, state to federal. Our loyal voter put 82-year old Young back into office, but he won't be allowed on any committee and he is of little value to us. His last term was his gift and now he's going to hurt us because of his lack to help. How long before these people will be going to jail because the had no money for insurance.)
U.S.: The California Branch of the United Auto Workers, Local # 2865, which represents Teaching Assistants for the University of California, has now become the first US Labor Union to join the Internal Movement to Boycott Israel. The Local Branch joined the movement because Israel was engaging in "ongoing human rights violations" against Palestinians. ( If these educated teachers had watched both sides of the news, they would see that Israel and Palestine, plus Israel and several surrounding countries were working toward open warfare and that all sides were involved in attempting to save their people by protecting them from rockets, armor, suicide bombs...oh, that was the Hamas from Palestine. Hamas was launching their rockets from inside schools, hospitals and private homes. Plus, for the last 6-7 years the Hamas had totally controlled Palestine with a dictatorship. They had dissolved the parliament and govern the country under Muslim Law. Here women, girls and boys may be openly raped, honor killings are allowed, executions without appeals and be-heading's or being stoned to death could easily be the order of the day. But in Israel, they still provide trials and appeals, they sometimes exchange prisoners, and no, they do not treat Muslim women like Muslim men treat Jewish and Christian women. True, they may be rough with a female suicide bomber, but they have to act quickly and if she is about to explode the bomb this will likely mean a head shot to protect others. As Americans in safety, there is so much we do not see. Like so many others I served in my Hell, I strongly believe these Teacher Assistants might journey over to Israel and observe both sides of the fence.)
U.S.: Fox News Reports- President Obama readies 2,375 new regulations for American businesses. Also setting a new record with 468,500 Federal Register pages, all without giving Congress a change to view them beforehand for an up and down vote. (So, will he be using his Power of Memorandum or his Executive Order, both of which have equal power. Before he's done, I imagine Mr. Obama might even sell the White House to the top bidder, but I doubt the former Presidents would stand for that. But I still keep wondering what is our dear Mr. President doing with all that .22 caliber ammo he has Homeland Security collecting. Maybe some kind of new anti-personnel weapon...an advanced Claymore Mine. I'll take 45 to protect my property, for after what ever happens does happen.)
U.S.: Once again the Editors of News Week have lashed out at us Christians and Jews alike. Basically they just go after our Bible from Old through New Testament. Reporter Todd Starnes of Fox News says their 16-page diatribe is a mindless attack on all forms of Christians and Jews. Todd asked in his article, if News Week, "...Would have the courage to publish: The Koran-So Misunderstood it's a Sin"? After the Editors had stated, "The Bible, So Misunderstood it's a Sin." (Now I made this short, but I really could have dug my claws into this one and then hung up the pelt above the fire place. But I suspect you need to read the whole 16-page article yourselves.)
Russia: Now according to a new report, a particular Russian mining company plans on spending $10 Billion to construct a manned base on the moon toward the end of 2030, or maybe sooner. They wish to work with Russia for use of their space vehicle to get them there and a split of the profits, for it is believed the moon is stronge in rare elements; such as lanthanum, neodymium and praseodymium. ( I am sure happy I was never asked to spell such words in school.). These elements are used for electronics, the advanced type and they are running low in quantity. Currently China has a supply of them and it is their monopoly.
( Another issue to consider, whoever gets up to the moon can prove to be powerful enemy or ally. It is much easier to launch weapons down at the earth, then to launch them upward from the earth, or so I've read. If we do not already have some condos up there we may want to consider a space race or a friendly trip for the main powers. Bring some real estate agents along on the 4th or 5th trip, once the construction bosses get an eye full. Sounds like a sci-fi book for sure.)
Hong Kong: Thousands of police deployed into the streets amid fears of new pro-democracy protests.
Taiwan: Ministry of National Defense has launched a special naval exercise involving 13 warships, to include its new Tuo Jiang-Class Corvette. ( This is a British-like destroyer, known for speed and weaponry.
Shanghai: 35-people killed as thousands go wild when unknown persons began throwing fake money up into the air among crowds of several thousands, all present to celebrate New Years Eve in the Historic Bund Area. 42-people were injured and taken to the nearest hospitals. Men and women stampeded, crushing the people beneath them to collect what they thought was great riches. Police were searching for suspects, based on security cameras and personal ones too.
Palestine: Hamas led Authority has signed up to join the United Nations International Criminal Court, which immediately prompted complaints from Israel. ( It is decisions like this that will one day come back to cripple or destroy democratic countries.)
Earthquakes: (16) over 4.0. (Japan showed 4-5.1/4.7/4.4/4.5), Chile (1-4.7), New Guinea (1-5.7), Taiwan (1-4.6), New Zealand ( 1-4.8), Philippines (1-5.2), Mostly minor quakes elsewhere with 8 in Puerto Rico, 3 in Alaska, but Fiji had (3-5.2/4.8/4.7) There have been no major quakes for nearly a month, not since the volcano at Indonesia erupted.
