During these last couple of days Moose Pass was struck with a real gully-washer of a rain storm, tied with with heavy winds. Temperatures dropped down to mid-40's and our house heaters were turned on. It is already mid-June and Moose Pass still has snow on the mountainsides. The Chugach Mountain Range is awesome to look at, and nature is putting on quite a show as the Birch, Alder and Cotton Wood trees are filled out with their leaves. Meanwhile, the Spruce has their cones growing. Like pine cones but about half-the-size and plenty-full. We are experiencing roughly 21-hours of daylight here in Moose Pass, while up in Fairbanks the sun dips down to the horizon and bounces back-up. They have a semi-pro baseball game they play in Fairbanks, where the game begins late and they play without overhead lights, almost always a sell-out. Alaska does keep their Solstice events going on between 6/15 to 6/23. Our Moose Pass Summer Solstice Festival is in their second day, wrapping up this afternoon with a large auction of donated items. All the monies raised in the festival go toward the Moose Pass Volunteer Fire Depart/EMS Squad and the new library. We've donated items over the years, but this year we are hoping to begin a multi-weekend garage sale, part of it to be donated to our church to help pay for winter fuel.
I have a request to make, if one of you can help. I'm in need of a 5-inch tall simple wooden cross and without decoration. I normally see one in our thrift store shopping, but since I am looking for a special item I am unable to locate one. That is normally how it goes. If I wasn't looking I'd find a dozen of them. So, if you have one I can borrow, or you find one in a thrift store, I'll reimburse you for cost of mailing and purchase price. The reason: I need the cross for the cover photo of my new "Badge and the Cross" law enforcement series. I plan on having the police patch I used, and the badge I wore, along with a photo of me from back then, with the wooden cross. This will involve a 5-book series, based on my old cases, but with fictional characters. Books 1 & 2 are done, now being edited by Susan. I have decided for my two-book series for "Homeland Security" to not be included and they will stand on their own. I'm wrapping up Book # 1 right now, with about 5 chapters still in need of my editing. I should be done with Book # 1 by next Friday. So, please send me an e-mail if you find such a cross, while I continue searching Anchorage thrift stores and Bible book stores. I also have thrift store employees looking for one to hold for me.
Now for my official news site disclaimer: yes, I make attempts to verify my news sites, but due to my use of foreign news sites, please be weary of propaganda, fake news media and out right lies. But again, I do as much research as I can. I do recommend use go to the news media site and read the whole story, as I only provide the lead. Otherwise I'd need a staff of ten to assist me. Russian, Iran, Turkey, China and the other foreign sites I use can be quite interesting to read. Interestingly, they will run U.S. Stories not being used by our major news media sites, or I have found the American media to print out a story the foreign media had run 2-5 days earlier. So, be wary.

This Tuesday, 6/19 will be my darling wife's birthday. She will be turning 60 years of age, yet she doesn't look a day older than maybe 40. Very few gray hairs, unlike myself who is all gray, silver and white and look about 90. You can call her cell at 907-740-1162 to wish her happy birthday or send her a greeting. Me, I have to wait until the 25th before I can buy her a gift....maybe another puppy, or a bird to entertain our cats- not really. I love critters too much. We had three very large turkeys and because I learn to like turkey eggs, I wouldn't harvest the birds for their meat. Try the eggs sometime, they are very good.
That's it, folks. I hope this weekend has been a good one. I pray that God blesses your wishes and desires and you are all in good health. Be safe. BILL
