Hello, hope you are having a pleasant day. For us, here in Moose Pass, snow has moved back in and last night we gained another 4 to 6 inches, plus maybe an inch or more today. Still, the trees are all coated with fresh snow, including my 3-chord-pile of cut wood. I was about to go outside yesterday to pile the smaller stuff into our black sled and tow it over to our woodshed, when my darling wife glanced at me with that threatening look she has become so good at delivering. So, I'm waiting for a couple of older teens to come by who want to earn some money. Two such boys...young men, stopped by to see Liam, not realizing he now has a job in Soldotna- 65 miles away from us an he's living with his mom. They didn't want the job. I have to admit it is n impressive pile of wood.
I wanted to apologize about my last journal, which sort of ended abruptly. My computer locked up and all it would take was the "send". Fearful it erase my whole journal, I chose to just send it out. It is a new computer, but my old ways might be affecting it. We do get stuck in our personal ruts. Yesterday, while writing my manuscript, I had a problem finding an adjective I commonly used. I checked both the Thesaurus, my computer spell check and then my Dictionary, which let me know I had made up my own word to use as an adjective and have been doing this most of my life. No one checked me on it and I just continued on. Now, I will have to look for this word when a re-read my current manuscript, a once-over before handing it to Susan for editing. I do the once-over to ensure I kept the flow going and if I might want to change a sentence or a paragraph. I have occasionally removed 10 or more pages because I didn't like what I had written.
I find writing a relaxing affair and the time goes by so fast. I'll sit down at 4 p.m. to write and stay at it until after midnight. Mona will kiss me goodnight, at my desk, and I keep writing. Weird, how when a story is flowing, the rest of the world means little to me. Except my wife, for I do remember to kiss her back. Rule of thumb, for me at least, never settle for second best in your writing. I realize now the story I wrote for "A Coming Storm" was hurried and never edited. The story-line was great and this is why I'll use A Coming Storm in part of my 12-book series. "Fire an Ice". As to my 3rd installment , "The Sand Box Wars", I am gradually reaching the end and I've found working on the ending a difficult item for a 3-book series. I keep all my notes , in hopes some day I may use these characters in another story concerning either the plight of our veterans, or another major battle in Vietnam.
When I'm writing my stories, especially involving servicemen in the 18 to 21 year range, I remember the men I served with and think about the kids over there in the Sandbox. Four of our sons served there and all came home with no physical damage, but as to mental, they all suffered some degree of PTSD. Mona and I have been blessed with all these children, the crazy number of grandchildren and now our 2nd great-grandchild is soon to pop out. My father really enjoyed his grandchildren, but left us before he could really know his great-grandchildren. Same for my mom, but she survived long enough to know some her great-grandchildren. Life is so fascinating and the Lord has been very good to us.

Telegraph-Germany: by Melanie Hall, "Turkey's spy agency" is targeting it's citizens who currently live in Germany as expatriates' and followers of Muslim Cleric Fethullah Guleni, who is in exile in Germany. Turkey sent a list of individuals to Germany Intelligence Branch, in hopes Germany would assist them in finding additional people they could add to the list. But Germany, who didn't want to assist Turkey in this chore, contacted the names on the list and warned each of them of how they could be being spied upon by Turkish Intelligence. The list provided to Germany was 100-names in a dossier, supporters of this exiled Muslim cleric.
New Zealand Star: Russia- U.S. Geological Survey announced that a "strong 6.6 magnitude earth quake" , which struck Russia far east region of Komandorskiye Ostrava Region, and just off the coast of the Bering Sea. No tsunami threat and no word on casualties or damage. Aftershock were rated at 2 to 6 point magnitude.
Washington Free Beacon: .C.- Conservative Heritage Foundation is proposing an $86 Billion increase in defense spending, also recommending the government take a sharp cut in the U.S. Air Force purchasing of more than 1,700 F-35 fighter jets. Story by Natalie Johnson.

Judicial Watch: emails show Hillary Clinton , and Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin, under President Obama, were sending classified info through unsecured accounts. Judicial Watch released 1,184 pages today to the State Department, which include the 29-emails from Hillary Clinton's private server. The emails were obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. Emails obtained were to various people, including an attempt she made to contact a senior Russian Official. Hillary Clinton, while under oath, had previously stated, the emails she had earlier provided were all of her emails. (Apparently not).
Taipei Times- Taipei, story by Abraham Gerber. Taipei was at a standstill over a retirees' "protests". Thousands of retired police officers and firefighters paralyzed Taipei rush-hour traffic by occupying crucial intersection following their protesting over Pension Reform.
Jerusalem World News: Iraq, "ISIS sends a 7-year-old suicide bomber among the Iraqis fleeing Mosul. Video online shows an Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal expert cautiously removing the bomb from the young boy's body.

These cases involve Russia's Regional Press Institute, human rights group -Memorial, and Siberian Ecological Center, who claim this new law violates Russian's Right to Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Assembly. Anther 13 similar groups are now filing their complaints against this new law. 100 Russian non-governmental organizations are listed a "foreign agents".

A photo showed a girl of maybe 9 or10, speaking to a rank of similar aged boys and girl. (All faces were mostly blocked, but you couldn't hide the fact they were all wearing military jungle designed camouflage fatigues. Gave me shot back in history to the Hitler Youth Training Camps)
Manila Times: Philippines- 3 Decades after the Philippines had shed its dictatorship, President Duterte has given a series of speeches, where he offered to the people his desire to return to Authoritarian Rule, as a solution for all the problems of Democracy, that have failed to fix. He continues to say "Martial La" may be needed to save his nation. ( This is much the way Hitler began his speeches in 1935-38, until h became dictator in 1939.)
Truly, history is repeating itself, with the same type of little antichrists coming into power, like Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin. He was an ally of Hitler, until Hitler broke his word to never attack Russia, and invaded. I am not too sure, without Russia's part in nailing down half of the Nazi war machine, could we have taken Europe in 1944. Now look at the wars we are fighting, where some of our desert allies allow our terrorist enemies safe haven because they are all Muslim. President Duterte becoming a full blown king, it will have a strong effect on the South Pacific Waters.
If the Turkish people allow Erdogan to take all the power he is demanding- excuse me, requesting, he will remove all points of a young democracy. One man would make all decisions. There is now some belief the coup that was put on was actually a live fire stage play he staged to claim more power and remove his troublemakers, who would've stood in his way. Only next decade's new will possibly have the truth or next century.
All we can do is pray. Pray that we, as Americans, will never see a dictator over us...like the King, we fought against and won. But I am sort of a history nut and you can find it n my writings.
