WOW!! No rain for two days and the jungle continues to grow. I'm beginning to look for Godzilla when I walk over to church, or some other kind of freaky monster. Our summer visit of large black flies will hopefully end in about two weeks as the morning cold front move in. We can also say so long to the waves of mosquitoes. This is the only part of Alaska I dread- bugs. but, we are willing to put up with it for all the other blessing we receive here.
Kids are also busy, I sometimes find it hard to believe we raised twice this number over 30-years ago. Must of had an extra shot of tolerance back then, for now I hide in my room a lot. Though I do love and enjoy them, seeing how the learn new things, but also realize life has its responsibilities. I'm just in this middle-age spot and poor Susan, she's become a temporary aunt, and my great-granddaughter is very fond of her. This is only temporary, until we get a new house built on the property and that will be good for Patrick and Canaan too. They'll have some privacy and not so many people telling them the better way to raise their children. Canaan is my oldest Granddaughter and I am really impressed with how she has turned out. right now Patrick is up in Fairbanks working on a hay farm, which is not easy and very physical.
Well, I am on Book # 9 in my Fire & Ice 12-book series. I've really enjoyed going back to rewrite the "A Coming Storm" book and stretch the trilogy into a lengthy series. Once I finish with my part, I'll be handing it off to Susan for editing and it'll be the first part of next year before she can get to it. She has just recently finished the editing of "Legend of Silene" and is shipping it off to the publisher. She will then begin the editing of the first "Badge and the Cross" series. The first book is subtitled, "Rookie". I have planned 5 and maybe 6 books in the series.
Had another power outage, going dark at 10 p.m. for over two hours. I am always concerned one of these outages will blow up my computer...or my TV and its components. I had a hard drive fried and lost some information and writing material lost. Like back during an early flood- in the basement- where I lost two manuscripts and had no back-up for them. I haven't been able to recall what they were about, so maybe they weren't all that great. I need to find a component that will protect my system during outages, with so many trees about and over 90-miles of power line, a bad winter can bring on a lot of outages, In Fairbanks we went through a week-long outage, and that was not all that fun. But, it's Alaska.
I often speak with tourists and they are so surprised to find Alaska so unpopulated...except Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. and so many people groups living here. A visiting Pastor, who conducted our Sunday service, advised us of how Alaska's schools now have 8-different languages being spoken. Incredible. Where do they find the teachers?

The United Nations Human Rights Council is publishing this list of Independent Companies doing business in Israel, on the West Bank, Golan Heights and in Jerusalem. US claim such a list does noting to advance Israeli/Palestinian issues. In the past, this Human Right's Council has stood against Israel, accusing them of causing the Middle East crisis. They seem reluctant to accept how Israel is under constant attack by several anti-Semitic factions, who wish to destroy Israel.

Most of those killed were reportedly small time drugs users and dealers. Public reportedly rising up in anger and desire a repeal to the continuation of Martial Law.

Also.. 4 million Americans paid $2.8 Billion in Obamacare penalties through April 2017. But, numbers have gone down when President Trump suggested IRS could grant exemptions. ALSO...In Kentucky, an audit revealed and estimated $72 million in Medicaid payments were made to potentially ineligible beneficiaries in Kentucky.

At This point I wished to express my thoughts on the War in Afghanistan. My sons have fought there and Iraq, to fight in that war and almost nothing has changed. Except the number of those killed. In our 16-years of war in Afghanistan over 2,300 American troops have been killed, along with over 31,000 civilians dead and what do we have to show for it? As all or most of you know, my war was Vietnam, I was there for the end of it and we clearly lost it. I don't know what else to call it when an enemy general and 200 enemy soldiers are at our airport to count us off as we board our aircraft. Over 58,000 American soldiers killed in action. Now, in Afghanistan we have been fighting a similar war, where we do not know if the local man beside us is the enemy or a friend until he pulls a gun to shoot us, or sets off a suicide bomb. WE CANNOT WIN in a 2,000 year old tribal war, probably longer. Now President Trump wishes to extend the war and possibly send in an additional 4,300 troops. No, we need to bring our people home. All we are doing is assigning toy soldiers to a game board the generals use to prove their existence and get additional funds out of congress. Enough wars over oil, our troops are worth more than that. Let us defend Europe from the Russians, help Israel by defending their borders from radical Muslims and defend our other borders. But when you cannot win a war in 16 years it is time to stop losing our men, women and pack it up. Maybe those older General have forgotten Vietnam, but we haven't

Possibly restrict it to only Jews and Christians with combat training or military police training.
