Good Evening Everyone: Rain has returned, hitting hard and we've been told not to be surprised by a sudden frost. The storms seem to have brought a nasty flu-like bug along and everyone in the house is down, but me. Thankfully, no one wants to eat anything. The local newspaper ran a story on our Exit Glacier's receding rate and the photos amazed me. I recalled seeing in the first time in 1984 and it was a good sized glacier. Now, it looks more like an ice dam. President Obama, while visiting Seward in July of this year, walked out on to the glacier and now that very place in only muddy water. Behind the Glacier is the opening gateway to the vast Harding Ice Field. I can only imagine at this current rate of melting, the Harding Ice Field might be massive waterways in 500-years.
We had a nice surprise, Patrick & Canaan, with our Great-Grandson Solomon came down from Fairbanks for the weekend. They brought their friend Amy and her three energetic children down, too. So, three extra adults and 4 little ones increased the energy level by 10 points. I hid in my bedroom, reading books. Too much energy for this old man. I was cleaning my chair today and found a peeled banana peel with some remaining fruit debris waiting for me. I'm surprised the dogs hadn't discovered it. With all the bananas we consume in this house, the 5 dogs have taken a liking to the fruit. But not the peel. With 5 ankle biters, nothing is safe in the food department and it is amazing the distances they can leap to nail a food target. I'm waiting to come in one time to find them stacking themselves on top of each other to reach a doughnut, aka Disney style.
My boxes of books have arrived. Now I will start setting up book signings. Hard to believe my signature is worth anything. The Seward Fall Arts and Music Fair is coming up the end of the month and I am attempting to get a table in there. People come from Anchorage and all over the Kenai Peninsula, along with 2 cruise ships. I'll also be setting up a signing at the Bible Book Store in Kenai.
The News and Nothing but the News: I have found it odd, that with all of President Obama's recent dealing with Iran, handing out all that money and now just accepting Iran's backing out on the nuclear deal and resuming their rebuilding of nuclear facilities in Iran, that the major media show Obama with 50% approval rating. I believe this to be a clear example of how a political party's power, who controls the big media, will lie to the public and people will continue to believe it. The Government learned this when it brought the Vietnam War right into our living rooms in the late 1960's. But this isn't just the Democrat Party, the Republican Party once had the same control over the media at one time. No, it is up to you, the voters, to verify the reports that mean something. Polls actually mean next to nothing, because a poll can be easily controlled. What parts of a city is used, what religious or racial group and in my polls the top off at 1002 people. Rarely do they announce how many people, who they were and where was it done. Far too many polls on both main political sides are favored in a certain way before the poll is even done. So, please, do not take my stories for granted. If the story is of interest, research it.
This last Sunday, our Pastor was finishing up on his teachings on the Book of Revelation. He is also a real history nut and is one of the best teaching pastors I've ever set down before and learned. But this last Sunday he made a couple statements I didn't agree with. But his parents were up here visiting and I told him I'd like some one on one time to go over his sermon as I had difficulties with a couple items. This is rare for me, as I've found his teachings to be right on. I am hoping with just the two of us I'll understand and come away agreeing with him, or possibly I might convince him of what I feel to be the right answer. Or, we might just pray together and walk away with our own viewpoints. Because this is not an issue to drive people away from each other. Yet in the outside world, such minor disagreements are bringing about holy wars, border skirmishes and nuclear build-ups. We have lost our way in our own neighborhoods, our towns and cities. People are afraid and they're stockpiling weapons in fear of our own government being used against us. This is not the way America should be. Our Constitution and Declaration of Independence says it all and now people want to burn those articles, along with out flag. Out of fear, Britain and some EU countries have allowed Sharia court to exist, how long before that happens here??? Consider my thoughts.

CHINA: China and India agree to jointly consolidate border peace, as a great common interest. (But, the South China Seas issue could stand in the way of this from being carried forward. But India is also allowing China to run its international railroad system through their land, which will bring additional trade into India.)
AFRICA: The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) said in response to the Ministry of Social Development that it was saddened and shocked to learn the discovery of 3,000 underage girls impregnated and now have children. One is a 12-year old girl, who gave birth to a boy 6 months ago. Culprits are older men who prey upon the innocence of these young girls, having unprotected sex with them or going so far as to commit rape.
SOUTH KOREA: S. Korean President mentioned conditional THAAD deployment before leaving for meetings in Russia for Eastern Economic Forum. ( Russia and China do not want THAAD Missile Defense to be deployed in South Korea, nor does North Korea.)
PAKISTAN: Now admits that the Islamic State Group, part of ISIS, does have a presence in their country. They reported the apprehension of hundreds of the groups' militants and prevented them from carrying out their attacks.
USA: Report that "Millions of bees" dying off in South Carolina, when county officials failed to notify bee keepers they would be spraying to combat the Zike Virus.
RUSSIA: In Moscow, a Christian leader was arrested outside his church when a new law banning Evangelism outside of churches went into effect.
PHILIPPINES: National Police report they have foiled a plot to assassinate President Duterte, after busting a syndicate that was smuggling high-powered firearms from the United States. President Duterte remained unfazed and had no plans to scale back his work schedule. ( Since this attack, bombing have increased in the Philippines.)
IRAN: Russia and Iran are to begin construction on two nuclear reactors at Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. ( Now If I remember right, in that billion dollar deal we made with Iran, President Obama's dream-child, Iran would not be using its facilities to produce nuclear weapons. But just before this story came out, Iran took their recently purchased Russian-made mobile S-300 ground to air missile defense system and surrounded one of their old facilities with them. Oh, they bought these from Russia and the recently acquired wealth we provided. Thank you, Pres.)

( If the countries of the world used all the funds we've spent on war and war machines and used it for building a better world for mankind than just maybe, "Star Trek" could be realized and space vehicles powered by warp drive, or something similar could be taking us out to there to these new planets.)
PHILIPPINES: President Duterte has now introduced a law requiring mandatory drug testing for all college admissions.( Can you even imagine doing something like that in the U.S.?)
PAKISTAN: Suicide bombers attacking Christian housing and business areas in Peshawar and Mardan. United Nations reported 1 suicide bomber killed and one bombing victim dead in Peshawar, while one suicide bomber died in the law court at Mardan, killing at least 12 victims and wounding 50-others.
UNITED NATIONS: Announces 20-years after nuclear test ban treaty was adopted, it has yet to get into force.
UNITED NATIONS: Reports in the (10) countries with the highest out-of-school-rates, 40% of the children not accessing basic education.
UNITED NATIONS: Reports that two-thirds of those killed in Iraq during month of August were civilians. (Exact number was not provided.)

Again, years later, such chemical weapons bunkers were located by American forces, But little was said about it. Once more we trusted our government and the people on top collecting big money to keep stories out of the papers and other media do their job. I saw just a little bit of this in Vietnam. Too many stories buried, now we have Kerry as Secretary of State and no one says anything about it anymore.)
NEW ZEALAND: An increase of 11,171 victim related crime over July 15 to July 16. This shows a 2.3% increase in victim related crimes. A good share of this increase was due to an increase in burglaries.
NASA: Comet Ison- last seen in 2013 and now most scientists feel Ison has completely burned up because it cannot be picked up on film. But could the debris field of Ison still be traveling through space and along the same route as before? Currently it could still be on the far side of the sun and no one is looking for it as the Comet Ison team was broken up. But could the debris field of Ison become the Comet Ison of late 2017, preparing to strike the earth? Or just old NASA films for collectors to admire.
But NASA is launching it's first satellite (OSIRIS-REx ) Sample Return Mission. Satellite will be launched into space September 8th, 7:05 p.m. EDT on an ATLAS V411 Rocket, from Cape Canaveral, Air Station, in Florida- depending if the weather allows the launch. This earth vehicle will travel to the near-Earth Asteroid Bennu, investigate it in detail, then land to collect a sample of its surface material to bring back to earth.
NASA is providing some internet viewing of the launch and later close-up work on the Asteroid. Just got to NASA and write in Asteroids in the search. (For me I like following space rocks to see how close they come to earth. It's a bit unnerving to find out how little of space NASA can keep their eyes on, but it is improving.
I was using Comet Ison as my killer comet in my book- "A Coming Storm", which has Ison strike the earth in Thailand and sets things into play for World War III. People of the Orient begin fleeing in all directions to avoid the initial strike zone and also the expected massive earthquakes and towering tsunamis. Nowhere in the Pacific is anyone safe, but they try to escape the coming End of Days.
But Ison vanished on me, then came back again a year later and now a few wonder about a debris field. How big? How many chunks the size of VWs and others the size of Disneyland? But with all the compact point on our moon and the large craters on our earth, when is the next big one for us?
Oddly enough for a while I was receiving better up to date info on Ison from Russia's version of NASA. Almost made me believe they had cameras on the moon for better photography. But now the site has been removed, I'm not allowed to enter it. Maybe they discovered I was another good American boy with a big nose. Yet, I still get into their three papers. I often enjoy the one that is pure propaganda for the Russian State. Helps me see who Putin really is and where he came from. Stalin # 2, that's Putin. I also like to see what Russia thinks about our movies. The News will bounce back and forth between classic and modern up-to-date shows. China loves Hollywood and now they own a good share of two of the big companies- Paramount and another I just forgot-sorry.
