I just finished editing Chapter Two in the new book. I write the full chapter out and then edit it twice. In this way, when I give the completed story to Susan to edit, there will not be so many mistake. My first books had numerous errors before I handed them off to her and now she can make it happen without having to make so many changes. First two chapters, which developed my main characters, their background and eventual arrival in Afghanistan took up 56 pages. Chapter three leads them into their first long range patrol. The reader will find side stories among the characters; how they feel, what they left behind, their very first kill or having a dear friend wounded or killed. For the Commander, Captain Bill Warrens, this is his third tour to the sandbox and during the second tour he took a bullet for a thoughtless first-timer and was nearly forced into a Medical Discharge. He thinks about that moment when he's back out there. He's never identified the careless trooper, but the man knew and he back in Bill's platoon. A volunteer, hoping for a second chance to prove himself to his captain, ever thankful he was never identified. Such actions have been known to have a man abandoned in the field as no one wants to work with him.
I'm trying to work everyday on this manuscript, but I need a new typing chair, or a good used one. I've found a couple at thrift stores and they work for awhile. But it's not my weight anymore since I dropped to 200-lbs. Just my height compared to this great desk and I refuse to get rid of this L-shaped heavy-duty wood desk. I've had it since we moved down here...I think we might have picked it up when we lied on Baranof Road in Fairbanks and I worked out of the garage. Part master bedroom and part computer station.
Mona and Susan are in Seward today and until late tonight. They took one of our neighboring seniors in for doctor's appointments and then her evening club meetings. For her youthful age, she is quite the gal and she will be reading this so I have to be careful. She can still pack a punch from raising sons. Then tomorrow, Mona spends an overnighter in Soldotna, helping work the store and then a group that meets on Friday nights at the Store. Food, wine, no hard stuff, and they can smoke their cannabis trees, but no hard drugs. Old Rockers provide live music. a lot of rapping and Mona will offer counseling with Christian backing, 36-years of marriage and 20-years of being married to a cop. I'm always after her to write a how to book as being a supportive wife.
Well, to the news:
Gatestone Institute: "Iran Breaches Nuclear Deal-Again. What's Next?" President Obama ignoring Iran's violent violations, and the UN and AEA reports on America's lack of action- again. US Administration and State Department spokesman Mark Toner, are defending Iran to the UN on this issue. The US appears willing to give critical concessions to Iran in this next round of talks now occurring in Baghdad. But critics feel this turning a blind-eye to Iran's violations will further empower and embolden Tehran to pursue its nuclear hegemonic ambitions; "Ignore UN Resolutions and International Laws; Scuttle U.S. Foreign Policy Objectives and Damage Security Interests.
Washington Free Beacon: North Korean ministers have made a state request to officials in China, begging them to stop referring to the "Glorious Leader" Kim Jong-In as Kim Fatty the Third. ( Admittedly, I burst out laughing on this one)
* Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer has introduced legislation Washington abolish the Electoral College.
* NYPD reports they are heightening security measures for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade after Islam-State warned the event would make an "excellent target" for a truck attack.
Global Times: Nigeria- 50 Nigerians rescued from human trafficking in the northwest state of Kano.
* UN's (UNICEF) states that as the fragile recovery continues more than 850,000 people in Central African Republic - half of them said to be children, are still on the move, either internally displaced or refugees in neighboring countries.
*Egyptian Foreign Ministry rejects Israeli approval of bill legalizing Israeli outposts on the West Bank.
* Thousands of Belgian Military Personnel took to the streets in protest over their government's plan to raise the retirement age for military personnel.
Gatestone Institute: Turkey- Latin Catholic churches are being targeted. These Christian churches still have neither a legal personality nor foundation status - making it impossible for them to register property or seek restitution when their properties are damaged and Turkey basis such damage, such violence as "Only Self-Defense".
Washington Free Beacon: San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick, made infamous( my opinion) to most veterans failure to stand for the playing of the National Anthem prior to NFL Games, has reportedly never been registered to vote in any election, including this last Presidential Election. ( This is his Right, but it sounds strange considering the movement he started by his actions.)
* Lawmakers in the House of Representatives expected to overwhelmingly pass new legislation to prohibit President Obama from selling U.S. Aircraft to Iran.
Telegraph-Germany: Report of Far-Right Extremists in Germany now teaming up American gangs to plan attacks on Berlin.
Global Times: Russia- A recent survey shows majority of Russians want Putin to remain as President after 2018 election. ( Makes one wonder where the survey was conducted- possibly Communist Party Headquarters?)
* New Zealand earthquake upgraded from 7.5 to 7.8( for the people who live in the area, that .3 can mean a lot- in the amount of injuries and death, natural and man-made damage, and the height of the tsunami the quake caused. Yup, lots of quakes happening, must be the season.)
Gatestone Institute: Europe- "Let's End Free Speech". According to a story out of Leeuwarden (20) opponents of a plan to establish an asylum center there were soon visited b local police. It is beginning to appear the Netherlands is engaging in state censorship, possibly becoming a police state and pro-Muslim. In September, 2015, Die Welt reported that people who aired "xenophobic" views on social media risk the rights to see their own children. But while ordinary European citizens criticize citizens arrests and prosecution for "xenophobic" remarks- A European Union Commissioner named Gunther Oettinger reportedly called a visiting Chinese Delegation of Ministers "slant eyes" and for his punishment he received a nicely paid promotion to be placed in charge of the EU Budget. The European Governments do not criticize the Migrants. No they're off limits. "Recently, the Leader of a political party, who had asked the French People if they feel France has enough Moroccans. For this, he was fined 4,000 Euros.
This is from my thoughts: I truly believe the time is coming when the people of the United States will have their rights challenged, if not taken away. It may be the Sword of Islam or it could be China and Russia combined, who despise us for our freedoms. A lot of men and women have rushed out to purchase firearms, but our greatest weapon sits right on our shoulders. My wife and I are committed to die as Christians, But I will not walk blindly into trap if my instinct warns me otherwise. We shall fight for our basic rights as American citizens and we will only use our training and experience for those times when someone wishes to take those rights from us. Be watchful, for Europe is indeed having serious trouble and will soon be ripe for an Anti-Christ figure to show up- like Hitler did in 1933 and he owned Europe by 1939.
Bless you all. BILL
