Book Report: Will I finally wrapped up my manuscript for "Arizona Rangers- Geronimo", which personally I feel is the best of the series so far. The 2nd book in the series, "Indian Wars", is in the hands of my publisher. Susan finished her editing for "Badge and the Cross-Rookie", and it is now in the hands of the publisher- Alaska Dreams Publishing. The new cover for "Homeland Security-Part One" has been selected and I hope the book will be out on the market by February. Love the cover. I'm now going back to work on "Fire & Ice- Volume 3", along with "Political Action"- which needs one more editing, and "Badge and the Cross- Stronghold"- which is my tale about my time in Skagway. This was my second police department, where I was forced to deal with haunting's, spooks, a Satanic Worshiping group, and hundreds of thousands of tourists. As said before, the stories in the Badge and the Cross Series are more than 90% based on my actual police cases, but character names have all been changed to "protect the innocent"- ME!
I wanted to add that while I was writing the story about Geronimo I found out some interesting facts concerning his life. The movies about Geronimo have left so much out concerning his life. When Geronimo died, after suffering a fall from his horse at an elderly age, he was a professed Christian. He accepted Christ in his latter years while living as a Prisoner of War on an Apache Reservation in Oklahoma. He was living with his 9th wife when he died. He was mentored by the Chief of the Apache Nation-Cochise, who felt that though Geronimo might survive to become a sub-chief of the Apache, he did not believe Geronimo would ever become the Chief of the Apache Nation, which involved 7-tribes of Apache. A smaller 8th tribe was located only after Geronimo had surrendered. For a span of time Geronimo led over 2,000 Union troops and 3,000 Mexican troops a merry chase and was never caught. During this time he had with him 39 warriors, while the families remained on the reservations. I do hope you take the time to read this series and please let me know what you think of it. The next book in the Arizona Series is to be titled "The Search", followed by "The Gunfighters". That should end the series, unless...will, they sell. I have note for additional tales about the Rangers.
I chose the Arizona Rangers because so many books have been written about the Texas Rangers. I also wanted to write about the Apache, for I have a connection with them. During the writing of this series I also researched the Ute tribes and found them to be an amazing and highly lethal Indian tribe, but their desert survival and abilities were greatly thought of by the Apache, and other neighboring tribes. I especially enjoyed doing research on the Navajo, finding out that up until 1400 A.D., they were allies with the Apache and well thought of as a warrior nation. But, in the 1400s they turned away from their warrior ways and became farmers. Still, before then, they had defeated the Spanish. Geronimo himself once said that though he disliked the Navajo for turning away from their warrior ways, he knew that if any Indian tribes from the north or other enemies decided to persecute the Navajo, all the other Indian nations would rise up to defend them. For no one wanted the Navajo to become warlike again, mostly because of their sheer numbers.
So, I continue to write.
Snowing lightly now. Dogs are all barking, we have 5 ankle biters in the house and the coyotes appear to be on the move. Yes, we have coyotes, besides our famous Alaskan wolves.
For the children- Mom is doing all right, but fighting a raging toothache. Hold her in your prayers. The great grandchildren continue to grow fast.
The earthquakes seemed to have stopped finally, at least I'm not finding anything on the floor anymore when I get up in the morning. I'd usually find one or more police cars, figurines or whatever on the floor in my office area.
That's about it for now. Oh, I wanted to recommend to you two books put out by a Dr. Michael Greger. These are "How Not to Die" and "How Not To Die-Cookbook". My cousin, William ( Yes, we both have the same first name, but as you know I go by Bill. William sends out articles from these books and I've found them seriously interesting. Check them out to help you avoid food we shouldn't eat and other items. Amazing what kind of poisons were still being fed, that's okayed by our government. Make your own decision, but worth looking at it on the net.
Having trouble with my CD Drive on the computer, so John Alex is going to look at it. It won't read my CDs and I have a lot of unfinished work on CDs.
So, good day to all of you and may the Lord bless you all in every way. BILL
