We have recently heard from James and Becca, Ava and Clair, that they have arrived safely in Monterey, California. This is their new base and for those of you who didn't know, it's where all the rich Californian's live, the beaches are gorgeous and the golf courses are memorable. Thankfully James has learned the basics of the game, but IF I visit him, I'll be stuck as his caddy since I dislike the game. I have served as a caddy for my father and for my oldest son, so why not my 3rd son? For some silly reason, this base is also where they send their people to learn foreign languages, like Canadian and Old English, along with African, Russian and Chinese dialects. Makes one wonder what the base's hamburger is like- English or in 7 different tongues. James might see if they have one for Holy Spirit tongue and see what they say? James is supposed to be made a Captain in February, ( Don't forget my coin, son), but then he must finish his Master's Degree to earn his Major's rank. Sorry, had to stop to let the canines out. It's raining again today so we have a towel ready to wipe them down when they come back in, otherwise the chair, couch and beds upstairs get soaked.

My writing continues as I finish up my memories of the fishing strike and how many felons we had locked up. My fellow officers wanted me to wear my Smokey the Bear hat, which helped me look 7-feet tall and as things turned bad I was carrying my shotgun, too. So many people were booked for carrying concealed weapons, which was a misdemeanor back then and now its legal. Lots of knife wounds and bloody noses spread between our two bars. Occasionally, there was little room and we' would have to force our way in and rarely did we leave without a prisoner or two. If I recall the fishing strike lasted for 9 days or maybe it was 7, my memory lapses come and go. So, I keep a photo of me on my desk. It was taken of me when I was in Dillingham in 1981 and that helps a lot.

A report says how Christianity in France is dying out and Catholic Priests of European Decent have become rare in France, as in other European countries. The replacement Priest for Father Hamel is a Congolese.

Now to one of the best bribes offered recently, received and that led to an actual trial: The Hospital President of Yunnan, China got caught with his hands way too deep in the proverbial cookie jar for a bribe that amounted to $17.5 million in property and $80,000 in cash. (This reminded me of the two bribes I was offered on my flight from Anchorage to Juneau. The man was one of leading pull-tab operators and I estimate his business worth at $10 million. He first offered to upgrade my state's coach ticket to a First Class ticket, but I said "No" and then a bit later, he came up beside me while I was looking at a motorcycle magazine in the concourse. I was salivating over a large Harley and he offered it to me if I would simply back off on all the investigative work I'd been doing on him. I just walked away. But when I got to Juneau, I reported all this to my big bosses, but after I had reported this to my immediate boss in Anchorage. Then of course I had to write it all down for the Division Commissioner to see and to be filed. Of course it would be my word against his, but I was willing to go on a polygraph machine to test who was lying. The best part of the story was how I and my department accountant, closed down that man's whole operation and he moved to Nevada. But I sent a copy of my report to the Nevada Gambling Commission. He was attempting to get a operator's license, but the 14-year old Oregon felony arrest and conviction for Attempted Murder was going to prevent that. It is nice to receive satisfaction in one's job now and then.)
Europe- American authorities had earlier revealed how Volkswagen had used software to trick pollution tests. This spurred widespread outrage. But Spiegel News now shows that European officials knew all about the deception for years and didn't act on it.
Philippines- UN released a report condemning the Philippines over their "Brutal Anti-Drug Campaign". But in response the President of the Philippines blames the United Nations for doing nothing about the drug problem, and he now is threatening to leave the U.N. President Duterte of the Philippines said he may build a similar organization with the help of China and some African countries. Note: Last week, President Duterte called the U.S. Ambassador a "gay son of a bitch." It is reported that thousands of people in possession of personal usage size amounts of drugs were being executed right on the streets by soldiers.
Aug 23 Report from several news sources: Report of Sunni Terrorists and Extremists are infiltrating the U.S. with the help of alien smugglers on the US-Mexico Border. According to U.S. South Command in an Intelligence Report, there was reported "Special Interest Aliens" are working with known alien smuggling networks in Latin America to reach the U.S. When asked about this, Army Col. Lisa Garcia, South Command Spokeswoman replied, "There are major hubs that serve as entry points into the region for Migrants from those areas of concern attempting to enter the U.S. along the border with Mexico." She also replied to another question with this reply, "In 2015, we saw a total of 331,000 Migrants enter the Southwestern Border between the U.S. and Mexico, of that we ESTIMATE more than 30,000 of those were from countries of terrorist concerns."
I guess that's all for now. I figure most of the news you're already receiving, but I like to keep a close eye on China and Russia, NASA and Russia's version of NASA to see how close things might be getting to my book. Believe me, I do not mind being regarded as another Hal Lindsey, when nothing happens in late 2017. I have to look at the book, I forgot the month when the comet hits. But so far the Russians and the Chinese are doing their best to help me.
