A very Good Morning on this Saturday Morning. Solstice has now come and gone and in about a week or so we will start losing our beautiful daylight hours as we head toward winter. Eventually, we will be losing 7-minutes a day of daylight, until December 21st and then it reverses.
But, I have found it quite interesting in my studies of climate change of how fast our ice packs and massive glaciers are melting, and the seas are very slowly rising. We have several glaciers in our immediate area here in Moose Pass and after being here for 18-years this December, we have seen these glaciers becoming smaller and smaller. Exit Glaciers, one of the most famous glaciers on the Kenai Peninsula, because you can walk right up close to it, displays signs showing where the glaciers has once reached. It is steadily shrinking and quite noticeable. Makes me wonder what might happen to our beautiful beaches along the West and Eastern seaboards, how many large cities that will have their streets flooded over the next 100-years. What about Washington D.C. , which for some strange reason was built upon a swamp. It will risk flooding if the Potomac River (spelling?)... sorry about that, rises. I always wondered why the U.S. Capital wasn't built in Boston, Philadelphia or New York? D.C. is a beautiful city, in the federal areas, but is surrounded by poor suburbs. If rioting ever broke out in that town, like it has in Los Angeles in the past, it would bring D.C. to a standstill. I would hope our son, Joshua, has been moved out by then. We hope to see him return to Alaska, working with the FBI still.
I may have already told you, that Captain James Casselman and his lovely wife Becca, plus three daughters, leaves their former assignment to Monterey next Wednesday , California for Scott AFB, Illinois. But first they have a stop in Alabama where James must go through a required schooling for 5-6 weeks. Mandatory before he can reach major.
I've taken a 3-day break from writing and will now begin my "Homeland Security" Part 2 manuscript. PArt one is about to be released and you can find it on Amazon when it does. I am really happy with this one and PArt 2 will involve the actual attack of Eielson AFB on July 4th by the rogue militia force. The Colonel in charge wants to force the UN to authorize a second Alaska statehood vote. He wants to become the first Alaskan President. Actually, in my research for this book, the 1959 election for Alaskan statehood was illegal in how the election was run. For those of you who have not read this in my old journals, there were supposed to be four questions concerning statehood on the ballot and they limited it to two... A lot of the Alaskan communities never received ballots... Ballots were only printed in English and a lot of the older native people didn't speak English.... The U.S. Military flew thousands of servicemen to Alaska from Washington State to vote in the election... The U.S. Government had made a deal with Alaska that if they became a state, they would only have to give the feds 10% tax on sales of oil, gold and silver, and other natural resources, so the state could build up their government. States normally refund to the feds 33% of what they make of these sales. But once Alaska became a state, the feds went back on their word and demanded the full 33%. So, I believe another election is needed and support it. As to how I vote, I'll keep that little secret for now. But, this was behind me writing the book and how I came to write it was a real God thing. More on that later for those who don't already know. In the new book in am beginning, with of course the same characters, the Colonel and his 123-member militia force, have an A-bomb provided by a foreign power and use it to hold 500 hostages taken during the attack on Eielson. I'm still not sure whether or not I'll explode the bomb...been praying about that. Oh, I pray over all my books since I specialize in Christian fiction. Not a big seller, but that's what I write.
I've also been doing a serious glance over the multi-earthquakes the world is undergoing and the intense heat waves hitting our world. I noticed today that Europe is expected to undergo a major heatwave this next week. I wish them luck and blessings. While stationed on the Upper Mojave Desert in California for 4.5 years, we went through a summer spike that hit 133 degrees. Yes, it was dry heat, but miserable. That was in 1976. Wonder how hot it is this summer. Great place to be assigned if you're a UFO conspiracy nut like I was. NASA was there, along with the Space Shuttle Program and all the companies wanting to sell their airplanes to the military test their birds there. We were also the emergency landing area for disabled B-52 SAC bombers carrying nuclear weapons. Had one come in for an emergency, landing with wheels up on the dry lakebed and for a brief moment several thousand onlookers held their breath. Edwards was considered a safe place in the event a crash might trigger a nuclear blast. Of course that has never happened- so far anyway.
I'm also keeping an eye on that 1,100 mile long asteroid that I've written about. Years away though, but might prove real interesting when it visits. Wonder if I'll still be here to watch the flyby...hopefully a flyby. World has a lot of major impacts....Arizona and Russia....massive craters and others. Some legends show that Atlantis might have been sunk by an ocean strike. Curious. My new book, "The Final Challenge" has a brief blurb about Atlantis and you might enjoy my brief story of the city's history...all fiction of course.
Yes, I of course enjoy writing as it keeps me busy and challenges my thinking machine. I enjoy telling a good yarn and I've mentored under such writers as Clive Cussler, W.E.B. Griffin, Stephen Coonts and Louie L'Amour. You might notice some of their styles in my writings. I truly recommend them for fiction reading. My favorite two books of all our "Glory Road" by Heinlein, a science-fiction and another sci-fi by Larry Niven- "Lucifer's Hammer". Both our truly great fiction and I recommend them. Christian fiction, primarily for the male reader, but a lot of women have enjoyed my stories, is still pretty much limited. But, as I said, that's what I write. Police, War, Westerns and Sci-fi. If you have an idea for a book, let me know, maybe we can co-author. But, I only do action based stories.
