Church was interesting today: we had a new intern church builder giving us the Word and overall he was pretty good. I told him afterward he might consider his speed of delivery, by slowing down by 10 to 15%. The faster he delivers, the less our people can retain in our noggins. He said a couple of things I didn't quite agree with, but that's okay. His heart was in the right place and bringing two strangers together doesn't often bring continuity of thought in the first meeting. I didn't address my concerns, as he was our guest. But the speed of delivery issue is different, the poor kid was sweating 2/3 the way through his sermon from excitement. We have seen a lot of the new comers come to our church and they are a fine group of young men, but coming from the Baptist Convention the fail to send any women. Mona and I believe in equal time behind the pulpit isn't the Baptist way it seems and though we are a community church, we are backed by the Baptist Convention. They provided the means to buy our church and parsonage. But I'll tell you a secret, Southern Baptist are Christians and various members of our church believe in the Spiritual Gifting's of the Holy Spirit and we are allowed same in our church. Maybe you can say we're a bunch of holy renegades.
There was a lot of news to report on, so here goes:
China: Global Times Story that actually ran in their newspaper. The story was called, "Room 13"nd concerned the use of shock therapy on teenagers and young adults suffering many forms of addictions to include gaming, chemical and alcohol, as well as depression or mania. The Treatment Center became infamous for its abuse of patients through using electroshock therapy as a legitimate medical technique for such problems, as listed above. This "Treatment", where "lightening" burned through a patient's head several times during each session, a mouthpiece in place to keep them from biting their tongues in two, was used on over 6,000 internet addicts-mostly teens, since 2006. Though in 2009, China's Health Ministry prohibited this shock treatment program, they eventually continued on and media learned the Center renamed this therapy as "Low Frequency Pulse Electronic Acupuncture." One older teen, placed in the center twice by his folks, and had recently escaped again, told the reporter the treatment had not changed. Lightening burned through his head as the same doctor used the shock treatment to garner his control over him, as it was done twice before. He now carries a long knife in a backpack and told the reporter, he'll kill himself before he goes back to that treatment center, again. Room # 13 sounded more like a sci-fi story, or something from the 1940-1950's USA medical treatments for various mental issues. But today? And for China to allow a story like this to get out, it's rather unusual.
Taiwan maybe applying to the United Nations soon for membership, but China announced it stands ready to oppose it. "China firmly opposes any acts or words supporting Taiwan Independence." With China recently loaning money to a lot of neighboring countries, including Europe, South America and Africa, it might be hard to find a country willing to vote for Taiwan. If voting comes before the end of the year, and with all the money we now owe China, it will be interesting to see how President Obama with have our U.N. Ambassador vote?
China has also announced its "Facilities" in Djibouti are only meant to support Chinese peace-keeping and anti-piracy missions near Somalia and Gulf of Aden. China states it does not "wish to be viewed as America's pattern establishing bases around the world to project its power over other countries."
Global Times Story- China is still holding off on formulating a law on GM (genetically modified) foods until a later date. But the government restates GM food on Chinese Market is as safe as non-GM food.
China crude oil output dropped 8.8 percent, 16.64 million tons in July. For you economy nuts.
If interested, I review three Chinese newspapers and three Russian papers, and newspapers in Thailand, Philippines, Ireland, Taipei, New Zealand, BBC, and Egypt, along with American Patriot Daily, Blaze, Washington Free Beacon, CNN, Fox, Whitehouse. Gov, New York Times, L.A. Times, Jerusalem Post, Washington Post, Newsmax, UN News and World Health Organization (WHO), and finish up with Catholic News, Telegraph England & Telegraph Germany, Spiegel International. I try to check these sites every 3-days and it runs me about 8-hours, but I enjoy keeping up with the stories we're not seeing printed here in the USA. I especially like to keep up on China and Russia. I have found the new railway being built from Thailand to Russia with Chinese money very interesting, along with the pipeline and roadway China is building from China to Russian oil field- only a skip and a jump from Alaska. Some people may not be aware but the waters in the area of Big Diomede and Little Diomede only reach a maximum depth of approx. 40 feet. Not hard to build a water-surface bridge to Big Diomede, which belongs to Russia, under the ruse of a friendly gesture for an international world-wide highway. But I'm a conspiracy nut. Back to the news.
United Nations has urged the African Nations to close their gender gaps that is costing an estimated $95 billion a year in lost economic potential. In many of the African Nations women cannot own or inherit land, making it hard for them to borrow money seed and fertilizers. So women, despite working very hard, end up producing less. In too many cases a family member who eventually inherits only because he is the next male in line, knows all too little about farming, has no credit and the woman is left running the operation anyway. But because of these gender limitations, the productivity is much less than if she was recognized as the owner and granted farm loans.
Germany project 300,000 asylum seekers still this year, but less than one-third of the 2015 rush.
Turkey will now allow its policewomen on duty to wear the Islamic headscarf. (This is dangerous, as a scarf of any type is still a possible weapon strangle a person with. This is one of the reasons police officers in the U.S. wear fake "pull-away or brake away" ties that do not wrap around their neck.)
Philippine extremists connected with the Muslim Terrorist Group IS, staged a large jail break in Southern Philippines, freeing 28-detainees who are known to be connected with this IS group.
Church of England is facing a split as Middle England Parishes begin plotting breakaway in protest over homosexuality.
28 French towns will keep their Burkini Ban in place, despite a judges ruling against such a ban. Judge ruled the ban violated several articles of the French Constitution. ( I know it would violate ours to have such a crazy ban in place on our beaches. And a lot of our Constitution comes from their Constitution.)
Indonesia- A would-be suicide bomber was dismayed when his suicide back pack didn't explode inside a Catholic Church, so he leapt up and ran at the Priest, wielding a hand-axe. The Priest was only lightly injured because his congregation jumped the attacker and detained him for the police. He told the police he was not working alone. (Muslim faith is the predominate faith in Indonesia and there are only a few Catholic Churches, which are still allowed to conduct services and show their cross on their church building.)
announced it wants security checks performed for all recruits after it was discovered more than 60 ISIS suspects had joined their Army ranks. ( Makes one wonder how many have joined American military and U.S. Border Patrol?)
Last Story- Philippines: Manila- Police Chief has urged the city's citizens to take vengeance on drug peddlers, by burning their homes or killing them. (Basically, he's towing the party-line with his President, who has been operating much in the same manner and employing vigilantes to assist in the killing. No trials and a reported excess of 1,000 people gunned down. President willing to leave the United Nations if they give him anymore guff over how he controls his government. China is reportedly on hand to support a new style UN for the Philippines and some African Nations. ( I wonder if China will attempt to bring in the 10-country ASEAN organization, led by China, which is reportedly an economic booster organization? ( Back to my Conspiracy Ideas- it was 19-years ago when I was given the ideas for my book, "A Coming Storm", all received through a series of dreams. But in the story, China would be leading 10-countries in its drive to conquer the world. This was 14 or 15 years before the ASEAN came into existence. I only recall a few of the countries by name I was given in those dreams- like Thailand, Burma, Japan, Laos and Cambodia, not sure if Vietnam was in there. But I was not given the Philippines. Just a curious thing.)
I have written the manuscripts for the prequel for A Coming Storm, setting everything into place for when the 2nd book takes place and it will involve the invasion of Southwest United States from Latin America following a Holy Man's vision to take back what was lost to the American War. Oddly enough, there is no giant wall built the length of the border in my story. Book 3, the sequel to A Coming Storm, is set a 1,000 years later...but I believe I told you all this before. If I have I do apologize. But these two stories are waiting to be edited.
I'll try to work harder on not doubling or tripling the same info to you. But I am enjoying the writing of my new manuscript, "The Rookie", loosely based on my exploits as a brand new civilian cop in Dillingham, Alaska 1981. I've finished writing about the fishing strike and I am leading up to when the event occurs that brings about the resignation of everyone in the police department- but me. I needed to work for two more weeks to give us enough funds to fly to Oregon and meet my in-laws. That's why I needed my gun. But , this became an exciting two weeks for Mona and I.
When you're the only officer and the State Trooper is 60-miles away, you learn what you're made of and in my case it was creamed cheese. But what I really learned was how tough my wife was formative lady to be sure.
All for now, time to hit the story. God Bless, BILL
