OK, from right off, I'm going through a three-month medicine weening of one of my drugs and I'm already feeling the effects. So, you might see some mistakes in my writing. Though I am trying to check myself. I am already finding the effects of this as process to be trying. Enough on that.

Hello to all you Folks. A clear and chilly greeting, as Moose Pass is still below zero and not a single cloud in the sky. But, we do expect a couple days of snow beginning on Friday.
Another chilly and sunny day here in Moose Pass, temperature is just above zero and a good stiff breeze is blowing. Not a great day to be out playing in the snow unless you have earmuffs on. There is nothing quite like have your ear tips freeze, turning a darker pinkish and then white. Frostbite can just ruin a whole day, especially if you end up in the ER.
Yes, we have survived the Great Alaskan Earthquake, hopefully the only one for this year. Magnitudes have been reported at 7.9 to 8.2, tsunami warning were issued all over south Central Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula coastline communities.
A very nice afternoon to all. We're under cloudless skies, temperature in a bit of a coolish-nature. Another one of our old, young ladies and her daughter has flown up from the lower 48 to be with Patrick and Canaan for the weekend. We haven't seen her for some time and now she is married, a mother and 22 years old. Today the clan is driving over to Soldotna so she can visit with that side of the family...the house will be quieter for a bit, so I will take a nap.
Howdy, Folks. Three days of sun, following two-days of rain, has left us with a lot of cleared areas, or ice....real slippery ice. Church yesterday was small in attendance, the worship leader and I took over the giving of the message....sorry, didn't desire to have that come out all devout sounding. Our Pastor works a Sunday day shift at least once a month, unless he's called in for mandatory overtime.
All of 12-degrees this morning and I've recently learned that Alaska had is warmest year on record at 19.3 degrees average. Our northern parts of the state tend to bring that average down some. I'm not sure what the coldest average is but it must've been a dilly in the old days. Like I said before in 1979 I saw minus 82 degrees, but then that next summer we hit a record 100 plus degrees.
Yes, I don't normally send out journals so close together, but I realized the news category was getting a bit large and thought I'd send it out now. Numerous events are happening around the world and I try to follow them through the foreign papers and online news sites.
A Very Happy New Year to all of you from Bill & Mona, Susan and all the kids. Yes, 2017 has finally ended and now 2018 begins. Most of you can probably remember 1999 and the perilous transition into 2000, all the forecasts of doom, and now some are saying the same for 2018. Yes, a world war cane be in the foreseeable future.
Another Christmas has come and gone, but it was fun and a blessing. By my count there was 17-people here for Christmas morning, and the children seemed to have enjoyed it. I did. Our tradition is to let the youngest one open all their presents and we continue on by age. So, I am last and that ends that stage of the morning. This everyone gets to watch what that one person gets.
Holiday Greetings to all: Are you insane yet, here in Moose Pass we are growing close to it. Only 5 more days. It find it odd that on Dec 26th the season is suddenly brought to a halt- Black Day specials are all that's left and we begin taking decorations down. Still, we've had another 3-4 inches of beautiful snow.
Special UFO Report:
Recently, the news sites have been filled with news about the 2006-2011 Government UFO investigation. Still, $22 million doesn't seem like a lot for a 5 year program. This new one comes under a much longer name, and I prefer the older investigation of the 1950's - 1960's, called "Project Blue Book". One of the key investigators in this former investigation was a retired USAF pilot, who had an encounter while flying a military aircraft. Wow, only 10-days to Christmas. Time is simply racing by and our rain continues here in Moose Pass, but still hoping for a good heavy snow before Christmas. I've never had a green Christmas in Alaska, but tales of grass popping up in Barrow (Still trying to remember how to spell the new Inupiat name it is now going by), but the grass is mixing with the tundra. This has the locals really wondering of what might lay-ahead.
Rain! Yes, Alaska seems to be under a deluge across the state. Ice is making it hard to get around for cars and on foot. For years now Mona and I wear foot chain to help us from falling, plus a gripper on the bottom of my cane. Falling is a real drag. I think I told you all, that last year I fell and very quickly my long hair got stuck in the ice and I was unable to get up. I remained that way for 10-15 minutes, until Mona came out and found me on the ice...I felt so stupid.
A very good afternoon to all of you for semi-glorious day. I add a "semi" to this because we've had some strange weather for December. Weather temperatures have climbed to near freezing, running between 25- 32 above zero and lots of rain. Lots of ice on the ground, making the driveway a treacherous endeavor in both directions. Mona and Susan went into Seward to buy some sand, to add a layer here and there of the gritty stuff. Most of our snow is missing, but this has happened before.
We here in the Casselman household hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday and now all of a sudden its the 29th and Friday brings us to December. This year has simply passed by so fast. My children- one more year into adulthood and their kids, all my grandchildren reaching out for adulthood, raising their babies and working full-time job to survive- to eat and have a cubicle to reside in.
Hello, My Friends. Clear day and cold, but we've been given word a major storm is headed our way. But a strong wind could send it north, again.
I'm plugged into 1960's music for my headphone, so many songs I had forgotten about. I feel old. Patrick and Canaan, along with their brave helpers our busily getting their house ready so it can be inspected by the state. If they pass, then they will be allowed to foster their niece and nephew from Fairbanks. Elizabeth, our eldest , was just here for a couple days and it was nice. Me, I am either typing out my manuscripts or lying in bed reading. I prefer fiction, (war stories from WWII, spy stories, westerns, Christian stories, historical stories- fiction and non-fiction and police stories). I look forward to the day Mom and I can display our library again, nearly 1,000 books and they are all boxed up and stored in the house's coal shed. Again, Greetings! We'll try this again- so far so good. Beautiful day outside, what snow we have so far is beginning to melt. Been doing a small bit of Christmas shopping. I'm pretty happy, I am now in contact with my old Nam buddy- Mike. I think this is pretty cool and we're now e-mailing back and forth. Woke up this morning feeling pretty good- life is good. God has blessed us in so many ways.
Okay, how many people can recall what they were doing on /11/11/11? Yes, today is Veteran's Day, and I wish to salute all those who have servede in our military and those who are still serving. Of course, everyone knows that Mona and I our veterans, that's how we met. First impressions were not all that great, but she wore on me. Not her fault, she arrived at her first base fighting a nasty toothache and trying to stifle it with alcohol. I would've too. Now I fight toothaches with Tea Tree Oil- it works, but the taste is not all that great.
I still watch the old westerns where they hold the 4th of July parades and crusty old Civil War Veterans march. Sometimes the confederates march besides the Yankees. This was before Veteran's Day was made into a holiday. Today, they'll be thousands of parades going on across the United States, but unfortunately they'll be a lot of protesters out along the parade route or maybe even allowed into the parades. Some of these people are part of the far right, made up of neo-Nazis, racists and now for some reason my computer is suddenly having a hard time printing out what I am typing on the screen. Could this be the feds, not happy with my content? Still, I , I thank every man and woman who has worn the uniform of our military branches, and especially to those veterans who have fought in our many wars. Thank you, all of you. Listen, I'm sending this out. Constant jamming A very nice afternoon to all family and friends out there in the wonderful land of e-mails. Weather report: snow, followed by two days of rain- no more snow and the last three days have been sprinkles, light snow and hard rain. Yesterday was quite nice after noon and the fog lifted. We get a lot of lake fog here when the temperatures stays between 30 degrees and less. This mornings fog is now gone at 3 p.m. and new snow due tomorrow. So much for our semi-official Moose Pass Community weather report- send in 10 cents.
Hello: Last night as I was doing my news research, I found some important information I wished to share now. If you read my last journal, recently sent to you, I shared with you about the new laws in Germany and how Germany hopes the European Union will also pick up these new laws also.
SNOW! Yes, we woke up this morning to falling snow....Not Happy! We still haven't finished getting all of our backyard stuff put away, and there is a lot of it. But, if it keeps falling throughout the weekend, the stuff will be covered. Worked last year, but had a bit of a mess in the spring. I'm not allowed to do much outside, so I sit and write. The trees are lightly covered and quite pretty. As to whether or not this snow is a keeper or will it melt is anyone's guess.
Hello Everyone. It has been about a week since my last journal. I took a fall and stayed in bed for several days, poor me. Missed a nice week outside, actually. Weather has been nice during the day, a little rain at night, frost in the morning a lake fog, then a beautiful day. Patrick finished splitting the last of our wood, giving us about 2- cords of wood. Still need another 10, but the Lord provides. Last winter we were down to three armloads, when 3 cords showed up, just needed split.
For our weekly weather report, it's been windy, but no snow yet in our yard. But, it is wet outside. Seems that we'll have some tall grass and little trees in the yard come Spring. Life continues on the home front and tomorrow is the long awaited Alaskan Dividend, our share of the this last years oil revenue. Every Alaskan resident will receive $1,100 and for only a moment we will feel healthy in the material sense.
Greeting to my fellow Earthlings on this fine Fall Day, where Alaska's golden leaves are beginning to fill up our yard. Yes, the rain is still here and the termination dust (light snow) is continuing to cover our mountain tops. Weather people say the first part of October will provide us with snowy showers.
